I don't understand why you would get so close to a wild beaver. They cut down trees with their freaking teeth. What's not be be afraid of?

It always astounds me when humans thoughtlessly, selfishly impose themselves upon the personal space of any critter. About the same size as a badger, I think. I came across one of those late at night, once - and it wasn't remotely bothered by me. In fact, it started to come towards me. Then I thought a) of its teeth and b) the height of its head in relation to a precious portion of my personage.
