One year till 50.
Why is 60 any worse? I like to assign purely numerical and societal things to Bdays.
13 I am a teen.
16 a teen allowed to wreak havoc with a few tons of hurtling metal.
18, 19, 21, PARTY LEGAL!
30 I am untrustworthy. But only to those gulible youngsters that I now know enough to fool.
40 hohum.....
50. I have informed all my young friends to save up for my Mazda Miata midlife crisis mobile. I am in good enough shape and making good enough money that if I don't have My littlegirl slut by then, I can rent her. I can decide and afford to be an alcoholic. I can be a dirty old man, lusting after girls young enough to be my daughter, but still not be charged.
60 years old may be just more of the same. Viagra being an additional bonus. ( A truly inspiring girl would be better ).
At 60, I see myself tapering off at my job. A lot of things all paid off and time and money to do a few things that I never had time for.
Aside from accident ( interesting one I hope ). I will choose the time of my death. So far, I choose life. I think I have life to live for about 15 more years, if a reasonable amount of health continues.
You are 60. Congratulations. Make the most of it. Consider that there are always interesting/stupid things going on in the world to watch. If you can stomach the stupidity, it is entertaining. There is a whole lifetime of things you may have put off, that you might now have time for. Books unread, hobbies untried, masturbation fantasies yet to stroke off. Money and circumstance may yet constrain some things. But think back on all those things that you put off. Maybe now is the time for a lot of them.
60 years of learning what is and is not worthwhile or right for you. Get to those things that are still there.
At the very least, be an ornery old coot. Bend all those young ears with " When I was a boy...." Yell at kids. Shake your fist. Be really slow at the front of the line. Duct tape your left turn signal on permanently. Fart loudly in elevators. Old farts pissed you off for years, it's your turn now :)
Happy birthday!!!!!!! You've made it this far. Fuck it! Enjoy! Worry about how to celebrate 100.
