Thank you for that vital information. None of us know how to use Google Image search or Tineye.

I doubt this will help, and might even violate TOS since YOU don't have permission from whoever this person actually is to post it. Block, delete, and move on...no fuss, no muss.

~FR~

Yes, there are scammers on this site. However there are many 'real' people who use pics from porn sites and *gasp!* even manic bunnies instead of their own pics.

You may be correct that the people that you have met so far using these pics are scammers. In which case I would hope that you've reported them in the proper way (using the 'report' buttons), blocked and moved on. I would also assume that you read the bit which suggests you don't send money to anyone for any reason. If you do those two things, then you're fine. Just move on and don't look back.

As for labelling people fakes? Well, your 'fake' may be someone else's dream date. Beware of labels, because they have a nasty habit of coming back round and getting stuck to your own ass.

Now I get it. He's all butthurt because they didn't turn out to be instant Free Fetish Delivery Systems(tm)? You woke me up for that? Please...

I'm kind of leery of anybody who has self determined that these kind of threads a) belong on the site at all and b) that they should be posted in General Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, and Masochism Discussion.

Since you weren't able to upload the pic, OP, here's the best advice that I can give you. If the pic is really a shot of YOU (or you own the copyright to the pic) and somebody else on the site is using it, go to that person's profile and hit the report user button. From there, you'll go to another screen that will give you the option to report photos. Click that and the third screen will give you the link to report stolen photos/DCMA information. You'll see a list of instructions of what you have to do to verify that the ownership of the photo belongs to you and how you can verify that it is you.

Here's the information from that page if the pic isn't yours:

quote:

How do I report photos on behalf of someone else?

You cannot report photos on behalf of another person. Please direct the person you are concerned about to this page.

Of course, if this is just one of those threads were it's a case of you finding that the person who is using that photo was fishy when you did a Tin Eye search, you can always just report the profile to the powers that be.

This thread is now in Off Topic.

Is that really the proper way to report a clearly fake picture?

I thought that only the if the owner of the picture themselves reported it (providing they owned it), would collarme staff remove the copied picture.

That's too high a bar so I was under the impression, that collarme would do nothing about it. Am I wrong?

Does anyone really know if collarme actually does anything about photos that are reported, simply because they are of a porn star or other obvious misrepresentation of the profile?

When I hit that report button, there is no option to simply say "this photo purporting to portray the owner is actually on the cover of my favorite porno video".

The only options you have are to simply report it (without further annotation), or, as stated above, prove it's your own photo (which, in this case, it wouldn't be).

That's really a question that is better directed to VAA. I'm not sure of all of the legalities of the site, but My first thought would be can you prove the person who opened the account isn't that porn star? You might say that it most likely isn't that person and you think it's not, but can you really prove it?

myotherself -> RE: Whoever uses these pics is a fake and scammer. Beware. (4/24/2013 11:38:02 AM)

I wasn't so much referring to the pics (lots of people use pics taken from the 'net), but if the profile is clearly a scammer. By that I mean the usual 'my Master died and left me stranded by the side of the road and I need $200 to get to the airport' kind of bollocks.

For copyright infringement or plain old nicking someone's piccie, then it's a DCMA violation and the onus is on the disgruntled victim to prove they are actually a victim. Disgruntled is optional [8D]

littlewonder -> RE: Whoever uses these pics is a fake and scammer. Beware. (4/24/2013 5:46:37 PM)

Yeah. I'm too stupid to know a fake pic and profile when I see them. I'm soooo glad you told me all about it! I might have been scammed if it wasn't for your warning. [8|]

Actually, I hope some of us do and can explain it to me. I've never managed to get Google Image to work and this is the first I've ever heard of Tineye.

I've used Tineye on occasion when browsing through pictures and profiles.

It's also helpful if you see a uncaptioned picture of someone and you don't know who it is, and you can find out more easily.

There are two different kinds to report pictures.the first is to report tos violations, whhich may include, but are not limited to, possible copyright issues(including pics of families people, porn stars etc. The second link is to report stolen pictures of yourself, http://www.collarme.com/personals/stolen.htm and has explicit instructions that are different from the other picture reporting instructions. All are manually reviewed.
