Orkney5 -> New Sub - Need profile advice! (4/26/2013 11:58:30 PM)

Hey there, I'll cut to the chase.

I'm new to BDSM and to CollarMe (relatively, only been admittedly into it with myself for a few weeks, I'm still having issues sorting it all out) and I would like to check with some dommes to see if my profile is acceptable. Being on CM for not a long time (1-2 months off and on different profiles after having issues with them and being too shy to ask for help in the forums prior) I've experienced a wide variety of interesting characters from "HEY THERE SLAVE" to "give me your skype" to copypasted introductions and greetings and almost robotically assembled disclaimers and statements on what they want. These are the people I want to avoid (though it's not going to happen) and instead I want to attract people who are interested not so much in establishing a relationship 100% right away, but in leading (slowly) into a RT relationship over time.

So please, with that in mind, give me a good lookover and tell me what I can do better to maybe attract more intelligent and realistic dommes. Thanks.

Have you read the FAQ?

MaamJay -> RE: New Sub - Need profile advice! (4/27/2013 12:10:16 AM)

Well LadyPact certainly cut to the chase and yes, there is a FAQ about profiles and any number of prior threads.

That said, yours is remarkably good for virtually a first effort. Quite a lot about yourself vanilla and bdsm sides, a good photo, well done! Your youth will be a bit of a barrier to some Dommes simply because experience tends to come with age so many Dommes are old enough to be a bit squicked about being with a 20yo. Also many of BDSM's TNG (the next gen) groups are for 21-35 year olds so you may have to wait a little while to attend their meetings.

I would also advise not sitting back and waiting for Dommes to find you ... they are often rather busy fending off flakes in their inboxes ... there are also many threads on how best to approach Dommes so they instantly see you are not a flake and are worth reading and a reply. So read up on that then do some searching and thoughtful approaching.

Finally, thoughtfully replying and posting to threads on these boards is a good way to get noticed as someone worth time. So is volunteering to assist if you attend events.

Good luck!

Thank you Ma'am Jay and Lady Pact, I will definitely be checking the FAQs!

The good news - your main pic is very good. Your profile text is well written and shows that you can think and can write.

The bad news - all your other pics.

Some non conventional advice on a whim. You mentioned in your profile that you used to play WOW. There's a kinky guild on Exodar called "ouch that hurts." You don't have to get back into full time raiding and the huge time suck involved with becoming hardcore into the game or getting sucked in, but it's a large guild and you live in a big city - you may meet some likeminded folks who live near you.

I used to have a femdom guild several years ago and there were quite a few real life relationships that came from it, including one that I am still in today - some 4 years later.

Thank you for the information, Akaasha, although (I don't know if this was on my profile either) but I've long since abandoned the game due to my lifestyle taking a severe change.

Okay...listen up kiddo....from an old sub to a "new sub".

First, distinguish yourself. Doing the Marky Mark pose only works for some...be different.

Second (and most importantly) be the one and only....of anything.

Notice there are no "LookieNoNookie1's, 2's or 3's".

So, clearly, there have been 4 other "Orkney's" before you....add another 9 or 10 "n's" to your name ("Orknnnnnnnnnnnney") or, change it to "The Worlds's FIRST Orkney!!!"

Being the 5th Orkney isn't gonna help your cause....trust me....and...if any of the previous Orkney's were dickheads....well...my man....you're basically fucked.

masmiss -> RE: New Sub - Need profile advice! (4/27/2013 2:55:46 PM)

Have to agree with DarkSteven about the pics. Except for the main pic, delete the others. When I see pics like those on a profile I get the impression the guy learned everything he knows about the lifestyle from porn. Then, I move on.

Alright. I'll get those fixed. And thanks for the advice, Look.
