subbiedude -> Here is an Answer to Classic Question "Can anyone be born as Gay or Sub or Dominant?" (4/29/2013 7:45:40 PM)

Greetings Everyone,

I was watching a show on National geographic called "In the womb", it was about fascinating journey on development of identical twins in the womb. Here is the link on Youtube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7U2z7WMthZ0

I got to know following fascinating facts from this show

1. The personality of baby starts to develop when the baby is still in the womb, example in twins one baby may be extrovert or bully or dominant in nature while the other baby would be shy & submissive in nature.

Which means there is every chance that people will be born as submissive &/or as dominants.

2. There is an answer for the classical question such as "can people be born gay?", The sexual orientation is also influenced during the development of fetus in the womb.

So No Wonder People can be born as Gay, So on Contrary People can also be born Straight.
For All those who are wondering what is the root cause triggering these personality development of babies when they are still in the womb, kindly view the video, you will understand.

So People who used to think they were born as sub or dom or gay have a scientific answer. But it is also true that the external factors such as child's upbringing, the atmosphere, friends etc has significant influence on personality development of a person.

For Switch or Bi Sexuals, Im sure there will be explanation too, i mean from scientific point of view.

Cheers......

One is born with any variety of genetic predispositions... which are then subject to the environment.

It's not nature vs nurture. It's nature AND nurture.

I was. I was born straight as a ramrod, and wearing a monocle and bow tie. Some 32% of males are born that way in the UK.

Me too... I've totally tried to wrap my mind around being with a girl, and being turned on, to no avail.
I was joking though.[;)] M

Actually, I'm something of a pansy myself, M. I went to a mixed primary school, and developed the hots for a girl at age 7. Then there was another, at my mixed junior school, between the ages of 7 and 11. Then I went to a boys' school, and developed crushes on some boys there. God, it was bloody confusing, not to say very vexing at times.

But then I left school, went to uni, met adult females, and concluded that most women, most of the time, had more of the right bits and right shape for me than most men did.

I'm still a bit of a pansy, though. Why not? It's fun.

There it is. [:)]

Genetics and epigenetics are two completely different things. We're learning that epigenetics, which is basically the regulation of gene transcription, plays a main role in nature versus nurture. It's not as simple as nature versus nurture-- its how does nurture literally change nature? We're learning that it's probably a very significant amount.

There is no conclusive proof about what causes someone to be gay (or straight), or for that matter gender identity, but almost everyone has come to the conclusion a lot of it is pre natal. The idea that nurturing can turn someone gay, the whole strong mother crap, is just that, and no therapy has ever been shown to fundamentally change someone's orientation, whether it is sexual or gender identity. I think things in someone's environment could cause someone in the middle to go one way or the other (for example, a woman who is straight suddenly finds a same sex attraction), but there already were pieces in place. Here are some of what evidence there is:

-If a kid is gay, the odds that a sibling will be gay is about 25% higher than statistical norms for kids of all sorts.
-If there are fraternal twins, and one is gay the odds the other one will be gay is about 40% higher.

-If they are identical twins, it is about 60%.

The fact that the last is not 100% indicates other factors are at work as well, but also indicates a strong genetic component.

What experiments with pre natal development in mamals has shown is that things like gender identity and sexual orientation seem to develop pre natally based on hormonal washes that happen at specific times. Remember, all fetus's are female until several months in, until cycles of hormones change things. In the experiments with mammals, when they interrupt or change the hormone baths, the offspring show changed behavior, female mice show aggressive, male like behavior, while male mice can end up acting like female mice. Though not totally conclusive, the brains of gay men and women are different structurally than straight men and women, and studies of m to f transgender women's brains post death show brain development similar to genetic females.....

I suspect it is a combination of genetics and the pre natal environment that does it, what I don't believe is that how parents raise a kid will change those behaviors. There is a famous case where parents, on the advice of doctors, raised a genetically male child as a girl, because the kids penis was mangled in some surgery they were doing. They had a team of experts working with them to socialize the child as a girl, at puberty they gave the child hormones, continuous therapy, you name it..and the kid was miserable, and as an adult finally transitioned into living as a man, he never felt like a girl, never felt right, despite everything they tried (the fucking expert who did that should have been on trial at the world court for crimes against humanity for what he did, the arrogant bastard)....

Probably, I think a number of us are flirting with early senility and/or lack of a good whumping...

My brother says he always felt...something, and our family in no way was that dumb overbearing mother/distant dad stereotype. he was/is who he was/is.

I was more like peon...I was tackling boys on the playground to kiss them in kindergarten, and I NEVER thought they had cooties [:D]

DesFIP -> RE: Here is an Answer to Classic Question "Can anyone be born as Gay or Sub or Dominant?" (5/2/2013 10:14:15 AM)

Are there people in this day and age who seriously don't believe that gender orientation is primarily determined prior to birth? Studies of birds years ago have proven this.

The level of stupidity in the human race never ceases to sadden me.
