This is a recent news story that just breaks my heart!
As a father and now a grandfather the thought of anyone causing harm to a child makes me livid!

I'll post a link to this story and spare you all the gruesome details but one snippet from the story reads

I saw this post this morning and honestly wondered if it would last the day. Then I wondered something else. These are places where young girls are routinely married off, whether for dowry, the family can't afford to feed them, or whatever. I wondered whether because they are married off, they are no longer seen as children. Now, this of course doesn't make their behavior less wrong, but when someone doesn't see them as a child, could that make a difference? Just like here there is always talk about how the children's beauty pageants sexualize little girls, aka Jon Benet Ramsey.

Either way, it is still horrible and these men should face serious consequences, but it is something to wonder about.

In the book "Against Our Will", Susan Brownmiller described how the Talmud governs payment to the father for the use of their 3 year-old daughters. Rape and sexualization of children has always been with us.

The tragedy of this poor 5 year-old is the latest example of misogyny so prevalent regardless of the culture.

I have not posted in sometime, this story made me so sick I read only part of this story!
I later went back and read more to see what had happen!

As for children in India there is no way they see them as anything but a child, they are on to "Catch a Predator "! They had one man who happen
to be of Indian descent he thought it was okay to seek out a child so that he could not catch Aids or any other type of STD!

That was indeed a damn excuse to rape a child! No they are seen a children, no matter whom they marry or at what age 5, and up!

No excuses no *&^% they may or may not do anything to these man?

What is the world coming to when you rape a baby like this?

I am so sad I did ot know she had passed on my belief is she is in heaven and resting
with peace now. no one can hurt her ever again!

When it comes to children I do not trust anyone, not even family they can do the most harm!
I know it is paranoid, but I been through enough bull shit to just watch out for children!!!
The men live in the apartment where is had love!!

Those that harm children real make me Mad, and its part of also why I am over protective of any child period. India even tho they do marry them off young do at least try to treat children with some respect for the fact that they are still very young and innocent. But unfortunately a child predator or predictors exist all over the world and I hope He gets what hes got coming here on earth and beyond. [:@]

Sorry it took me so long to reply, was busy trying to find a new doctor...

Anyway I just wanted to add this kind of thing is not limited to India...
For a while I was teaching down in Mexico and they have this sort of odd culture thing where a grown man will kidnap a 12 year old and force her to be his wife.

I've asked friends about it and they all say it doesn't happen but on the radio there they sing songs about it and act like it's the coolest thing ever...

Yeah I know bad things happen even here in America but some stories, like this one, just tear at the heart strings...

I'll say a little prayer for the girl and her family...

Steve Smith, 46, was executed by lethal injection at the state prison in Lucasville in southern Ohio for the 1998 killing of his live-in girlfriend’s daughter, Autumn Carter, in Mansfield.
Smith had recently tried to get his sentence reduced to life in prison, arguing that he was too drunk to realize that his assault was killing Autumn and that he didn’t mean to hurt her. The Ohio Parole Board and Gov. John Kasich turned him down unanimously.<snip>

Back on the night of Sept. 29, 1998, Frye was awoken by Smith, her live-in boyfriend of four months.

Smith, who was drunk and naked, laid a naked and lifeless Autumn on Frye’s bed, according to court records.

Frye rushed the baby and her other 2-year-old daughter to a neighbor’s house and called 911. Autumn was pronounced dead after doctors tried to revive her for more than an hour, and Smith was arrested.

The baby was covered in bruises and welts and had severe injuries showing she had been brutally raped, though no semen was present.

At the home, there was no sign of forced entry, and police found a large amount of white cloth that came from Autumn’s diaper strewn about; police found the rest of the diaper in a garbage bin outside, along with 10 empty cans of beer.

Not sure that still happens except in the more remote areas but I can tell you it used to be quite common decades ago. My grandmother was taken by a man of french descent when she was 12 while she was spending the summer with her grandmother. They were away from her home for a few days and when they returned they had to be married. She had my father when she was 13. He stayed for 3 more children (one a year) and left for another "girl" after the birth of my aunt. My grandma traveled back to California supported her family on her own until my dad was 12 and found a job.
I think my grandfather had a few new wives, but apart from that first one I never heard anything about more children.
