One or two.....

So...those of you in the (computer) know.....

How can I clean my computer so my boy (very astute in computer things) can't see where I've been?

My brother tells me Ccleaner is a good product....any other advice?

Set up a separate profile for him, but only allow access to the programs and any files you feel comfortable sharing.

The only way to be sure he doesn't find a file or site you don't want him to know about.
Don't allow him on your computer.

Otherwise, clear your history and cookies EVERY time you use your computer.
Set up a second profile on your computer allowing him access to only that area, programs and files you approve prior and password protect your account on your computer.

You can set up your computer to have multiple users. You have a password for when YOU use it, and he signs in as a guest. You should be able to go to your control panel to do that.

Clear your cache and history by clicking (tools) and then (delete browsing history). This clears your cache, history and cookies

Now.

Open a window in IE. Press CTRL-ALT-P
A second window will open that says InPrivate to the left of the address bar. This is "In Private browsing". Your computer doesn't store cookies or history for that particular window.

Note. A good forensic puter dude can still tease the info out but it's tough.

No, he's not a kid. He is a grown adult who needs to respect your privacy in the home you've invited him into. Password protect the computer to log on to begin with, and if he doesn't have his own good 'puter when he arrives, pry open your wallet and buy him a better one than you've got. I bet Best Buy would be more than happy to give you a credit card

Something to keep in mind as you begin this adventure is that while you two may have a whole lot in common personality-wise, you will not share the same beliefs and values that are learned in life. You may regard personal privacy in entirely different ways.

Sometimes, a good answer is going to be, "you don't want to know."

Too true.

Most browsers have in their internet options the ability to have private browsing, that when you exit the browser wipes out the history, the temp cached files and so forth, and you can set that as the default. I also agree with others, if you are running windows you can create an account for him and password protect your account. When he logs in, he won't be able to get access to your stuff, he won't have permission to get to your files or anything like that, and he will only have access to what you want him to have. Me, I don't think he should have access to your machine at all, simply set up the main account with a password and he won't be able to use it. Computers aren't that expensive, and if he wants to use a computer, he should get one of his own.

two things to try are deleting yr temp internet files by going to tha tools menu, select internet options & select settings. also right click tha start menu & select properties, select tha advanced tab and hit document "clear list" at bottom. in general select yr internet history to be stored for 0 days & do tha same wit programs ya use that retain file names. hth.

if you are willing to put in some effort then i would recommend u install linux along side your existing OS and use it to do your adult internet surfing.if are only interested in surfing and not saving anything on your computer then i will highly recommend you download and install linux on a pen drive which you can use to boot up your computer and do private browsing.

linux file system can not be read by windows so even if you saved something on your hard drive it wont be visible unless you are logged in from linux.

And it is actually quite simple. just download a program called linux-usb-maker... download the latest version of Ubuntu (linux-usb-maker will download it directly)... and after about three clicks you will end up with a live-usb with linux on it.

the thing with sharing computer with someone is that they can install softwares to spy on you... so really if you want to be totally safe do as i say.

Regards

If you could financially swing it, the safest thing would be for you to get him an inexpensive laptop of his own, so you can be the cool dad who wants him to feel totally secure that you won't be invading *his* privacy.
