[F]ood insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health," it says.

Climate change could also add "workload and stresses" on female farmers, which the resolution says produce 60 to 80 percent of the food in developing countries.

The chances for regional conflict also increase with climate change, the resolution says, because changing weather patterns could lead to migration and refugee crises. It said these sorts of potential conflicts over land will have a disproportionate impact on "the most vulnerable populations including women."

More broadly, the resolution says climate change will hurt "marginalized" women, such as refugees, sexual minorities, adolescent girls, and women and girls with HIV. It also cites Hurricane Katrina as evidence of how climate change can affect women, noting that the storm displaced "over 83 percent of low-income, single mothers" in the region.

If you really want to get into the meat of what the California Democrat fucktards are after, it's seeking to put gender-specific affirmative action requirements into studies and planning that would theoretically be best done by the best qualified, not the best qualified, who also meet the politically correct hiring and planning goals.

Are you sure you wouldn't rather just laugh at the idiots, Lucy? Because I'm more than fucking happy to go off again about how concerns about our atmosphere have been hijacked by authoritarian assholes who think a problem is an excuse for them to implement their totally unrelated agenda.

I don't recall accusing TheHeretic of being a liberal, but I'm not saying I haven't I just can't recall.

It seems if we want to solve the food issue we should engage technology. I know I have a large plot garden that's doing quite well and lots of pineapple plants. Seems we should all grow our own gardens to reduce the workloads and labor demands of farmers so they don't risk exploitation. Less demand for the good will help prices drop and food supplies increase allowing nations whose food budgets are quite important to enjoy some greater access to a cheaper supply of food. Urban farming is actually coming into its own and I like the idea of vacant warehouses and factories being put to use for farming. It'll help remove the need for unskilled labor on farms which face exploitation and in some cases slavery (oh it happens even in Florida).

I'm not going to argue climate change. I'll leave that up for others. But in the meantime I suggest we engage technology and self-reliance to help better the lives of those around us when it comes to food.

Ah. Well, when the fundy and birther dumbass right encounter my thoughts on social issues, they do tend to get all confuzzled and shit. I can't say that I've ever bothered with the character in question, anyway.

Getting back to the topic, the attempt to use an issue like climate change to further their politics of division, discrimination, and victimimization really shows just how low the Democrats have sunk. And the disappearance of their domestic and foreign cheerleading squad says they know it too.

Hey. I'm on the other side for a unicorn hunt, so if panic about global warming creates more women looking to live in a cupboard under the stairs, cook, clean, get fucked in every way, and whipped to tears on a whim, has to be looked at as a positive. [:D]

So a "meaningful discussion" is out of the question until TH vets and approves all those participating to ensure they conform to his standards of political correctness. Perhaps a room full of looney Right wingers and Tea Party types would fit the bill admirably.

Good heavens, we couldn't possibly allow any body well informed on the subject or capable of thinking for themselves - the discussion might then actually be a meaningful one. Why not be honest about it and say you don't want to have any meaningful discussion about climate change in the first place because the facts are not compatible with your ideology?
