Hello all. I've come to the realization that I'm going to have to become more sociable both online and IRL. To me this feels much like what I imagine that guy in Utah felt when he realized he had to amputate his arm with a pocketknife to save his life.

My profile describes me as a Dominant because that's the best of the available options. I would prefer to simply say I'm a Top. I've got no basis to believe I should be guiding someone's life for them. For me it's all about the endorphins and I'm looking to meet someone with a similar view.

About six months ago, my vanilla wife of 13 years moved out. I was taken by surprise at how quickly and intensely my long ignored kinks reasserted themselves. As soon as my grief about the breakup subsided I was scrolling through craigslist (Yeah, waste of time. Figured that out.) and rooting around the attic looking for my crop and cuffs.

I wouldn't describe my marriage as a mistake, but I am determined that my next LTR (and any casual encounters along the way) allow a place for more outré expressions of sexuality.

Hi! We met on "the other side" since you live in the MD/DC area. I have to ask about the keffiyeh. Where was the picture taken? Welcome

Hi. I remember you and you're probably the person to ask: Can you recommend any local groups where I could meet others of our inclination? I am really not a joiner by nature, but I cannot let my need for society be undone by the mere fact that I can't stand being around people. (That's something like a joke.)
The keffiyeh - I went to Jordan a couple of times for work two years ago. The photo was taken in Petra, which is pretty much the most amazing place I've ever seen.

Hello and welcome. Isn't Petra where they have those churches carved completely out of the rock? I may be confusing it with somewhere else.

Thanks. I'm sure you're thinking of the right place, but they're not churches. The city is pre-Christian. One of the buildings is referred to as a treasury and another as a monastery. I'm not sure how the uses were identified, but then I'm not really a scholar. I will say that anyone with the opportunity to do so should see that place. The scale of it is what I remember most. Just the door to the treasury was about 40 feet tall. The fact that something so large was carved from a mountain with hand tools and with such detail and symmetry is simply awe-inspiring.

Black Rose is the educational group in DC. They have many lectures and SIGs (heck they have one that is kinky people who like cultural events...they just go to plays, museums, ballet...). The Crucible is the dungeon thing but even they hold events like weekly Yoga and Sun afternoon football on the big screen. Yes, you will have to leave your house (read your journal but it is a sentiment held by many) but I do think that you have a better shot of finding a decent, intelligent 3D sub that way. Check out Fetlife also.

Good luck. I used to live in Rockville. Loved it there!
