So I had my nipples pierced a little while ago and I was wondering a few things. First off its been a few months and though they are not tender, nor do they hurt anymore, but they still tend to puss a little bit and scab slightly. I was wondering if this is normal or should I have them looked at. Also I'm not really into any the rings I have found in the local stores so I was wondering if anyone knew a good online shop where I could find something. My Domme was talking about how she thought it would be cool to have some sort of leash attached to them. Do they make those? She asked me to search for different rings that I like but I'm not sure where to start. If anyone knows of any site I could go to and could send me a link or something I would be very greatful.

I'd be tempted to get it checked just in case. I know that I don't heal piercings well for some reason and when I had them they tended to stay in that crusting-over stage for months until they healed (and could go back again in hot weather or under tight clothing). It may well just be that it's not finished healing yet. I think nipple piercings do take a long time to be fully healed. Your piercer might be able to take a look and tell you what's normal if it's hard to get a doctor's appointment. In the mean time you should still be doing regular cleaning as you did when it was first pierced and letting them air as much as possible. Don't take the jewellery out if you have an infection unless told to by a doctor, since the outer edges of hole can begin to heal over before the infection is gone causing something similar to an abscess.

No recommendations for online shops since I'm in the UK. Leashes... I don't know, but I'd say not to consider tugging games until you are confident you are totally healed.

Ahh thank you very much. I will probably end up going to the place I got them pierced to ask his opinion, thank you for the advice. I'm just curious in the meantime about the leashes. Neither of us want to actually do it until they are fully healed

wash the site with soap and water if there is puss then there is something that needs to be cleansed for males it can take several monthes to fully heal as the male piercing needs to be behind the actual nipple. also it may be a reaction to the metal used gold and sterling silver are best or surgical stainless. cheap ones have nickel that commonly cause reactions

The pus and scabs may mean they are infected. You should make sure the piercings are clean and dry so they can heal. Also, I wouldn't do the leash thing in the meantime. Any tugging and yanking could make them worse.

Pus, yes. Scabs/crusties, no. They are a normal part of the healing process and in no way indicate infection.

Six months after getting my nipples pierce I had one that still leaked pus regularly.  I read somewhere online where sometimes there are microscopic flaws in the jewelry that can cause problems.  I went back to my piercer with that information.  He changed the jewelry on the side that was giving me problems.  I have never had a problem since then, no pus, no soreness.  It's been 6 years now.

nipples can take up to 2 years in women to fully heal because of the fact most women wear bras. Puss (mostly clear or whitish/very light yellow fluid)and scabs/crusties on the piercing are normal (dark yellow or pink is not) for up to 6-8 (for me it was over a year because i had a front clasping bra) months because they are healing, continue to clean and be gentle with them. If you have a curved ring over a barbel this could be the reason, The piercing is trying to heal from a straight insertion of the needle and you are having pressure on it with a curve.

If you are playing with them it will take longer to heal and is most likely the cause of the puss/crusties any pulling or tugging or playing causes tiny tears that have to heal. If it just doesnt seem to be healing try having the piercer switch out the jewerly

As for the leash its not smart to do until after the 2 year mark, because of the potential that its still healing, any leashing now can cause the rings to migrate and potentially migrate out.

If your uncomfortable call or ask any piercing place in your area that does nipple piercings.

My husband got a pamphlet from our piercer because He too is having a little trouble with his. I'll type it out for you ;)

Cleaning solutions:
*Packaged sterile saline solution with NO additives (read the label) or a NON-iodized sea salt mixture (1/4 teaspoon of iodine free sea salt to 1 cup of warm distilled or bottled water. Stronger is NOT better, too strong can be irritating and cause further issue.
*Fragrance free liquid soap - preferably inti-microbial or germicidal

Cleaning instructions:
1) Wash your hands thoroughly prior to having any contact with your piercing for any reason.
2)Saline soak for 5 - 10 minutes once or more every day. Invert a cup of warm saline solution (refer to cleaning solutions above) over the area to form a vacuum. For certain piercings it may be easier to apply using clean gauze or paper towels saturated with saline solution. A brief rinse afterward will remove any residue.
3) Soap no more than twice a day. While showering, lather up a pearl sized drop of germicidal or anti-microbial soap to clean the jewelry and the piercing. Leave the cleanser on the piercing no longer than 30 seconds.
4) Rinse thoroughly to remove all traces of soap. Do not rotate the jewelry through the piercing.
5) Dry by gently patting with a clean disposable paper product. Cloth towels can harbor bacteria and cause infection or snag and cause injury.

What is Normal?:
*Initially- some bleeding, localized swelling, tenderness or bruising.
*During healing- some discoloration, itching, secretion of whitish yellow fluid (not pus) that will form a crust on the jewelry. The tissue may tighten around the jewelry as it heals.
*Once healed - The jewelry may not move freely in the piercing, DO NOT force it! If you fail to include cleaning your piercing as part of your daily hygene routine, normal but smelly bodily secretions (smegma, or dead skin) may acccumulate.
*A piercing may seem healed before the healing process is complete. This is because tissue heals from the outside in, and although it feels fine, the interior of the wound remains fragile. BE PATIENT, keep cleaning throughout the entire reccommended healing period.
*Even healed piercings can shrink or close within minutes after having been there for years. This varies from person to person: if you like your piercing and do not want to have to repeat the entire process, keep jewelry in, do not leave it empty.

What to do:
*Wash your hands prior to touching your piercing for any reason. Leave it alone except when cleaning. During healing, it is not neccessary to rotate your jewelry (because you can introduce bacteria into the wound)
*Stay healthy. The healthier your lifestyle, the easier it will be for your piercing to heal. Get enough rest and eat a nutritious diet. Exercise during healing is fine, but listen to your body and don't overdo it.
*Make sure your bedding is washed and changed regularly. Wear clean, breathable clothing that protects your piercing while you are sleeping.
*Showers tend to be safer than baths. Bathtubs can harbor bacteria. If you must take a bath rather than shower, clean the tub well before use and rinse off your piercing when you get out.

What to Avoid:
*Avoid cleaning with Betadine, Hibicleans, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, Dial or any other harsh soaps. These can damage cells. Also avoid ointments as they prevent neccessary air circulaton.
*Avoid Bactine, pierced ear solutions and other products containing Benzalkonium chloride (BZK) These can be irritating and are not intended for long term wound care.
*Avoid over cleaning. This can irritate your wound and delay the healing process.
*Avoid undue trauma such as friction from tight clothing, excessive motion of the area, playing with the jewelry and vigorous cleaning. These activites can cause the formation of unsightly and uncomfortable scar tissue, migration of the jewelry, prolonged healing time and other complications.
*Avoid ALL oral contact, rough play, and contact with others bodily fluid on or near your piercing during healing.
*Avoid submerging your piercing in unhygenic bodies of water such as lakes, pools, hot tubs, etc.
*Avoid ALL beauty and personal care products on or around the piercing including cosmetics, lotions, sprays, etc.
*Don't hang charms or any objects from your jewelry until the wound is fully healed.

Hints and Tips:
*Unless there is a problem with the size, style, or material of the initial jewelry, leave it in place for the entire healing process. See a qualified piercer to perform any jewelry change that becomes neccessary during healing.
*Contact your piercer if your jewelry must be removed (such as for a medical procedure) There are non metalic alternatives available.
*Leave Jewelry in at all times. Even old or well healed piercings can close within minutes - even after having been there for years. If removed, reinsertion can be difficult or even impossible.
*Regularly check any threaded ends on your jewelry for tightness.
*Carry a clean spare ball in case of any loss or breakage.
*Should you decide you no longer want the piercing, simply remove the jewelry or have a professional piercer remove it for you. Continue cleaning the wound until it is fully healed.
*In the event an infection is suspected, leave the jewelry in place to allow for drainage of the infection. If the jewelry is removed, the surface cells can close up which can seal the infection inside the piercing channel and result in an abcess. Do not remove jewelry unless instructed to do so by a medical professional.

Lucifyre basically said everything I was going to!

I'll just expand a little on one of the points she put up: leaking lymph (not puss) is normal for even up to 1.5 years. Nipples tend to be slow healing for most people. Do not do anything like leashes or charms or such until at *least* 1.5-2months *after it stops releasing lymph fluid*.

I had mine pierced back in December and they still do what you describe. I am just assuming I'm a slow healer, which I am and as my piercer told me, it takes up to a year to completely heal.

As always, your mileage may vary.
I had pus on mine until someone [not the piercer who sold me the expensive solution, eyeroll] mentioned the alcohol might be the cause; indeed it was as it dries tissue and lets in bacteria; stopped as soon as I used saline and hydrogen peroxide. Iodized salt in boiling water then cooled is just fine if you want to make it fresh every day, but I used contact lens solutions.
As above, sometimes the hardest part is keeping your partner's mouth and paws away from them until they're completely healed!
You didn't mention the metal of your piercings; you may be allergic as I was to the surgical steel in my first pair. I've had good luck with titanium, gold, basically anything else except something that might contain nickel.
Once the holes become completely dry and healthy skin grows over all surfaces, the holes can't heal over [just like pierced ears], so you don't have to worry if you want to travel or otherwise go without jewelry for weeks.
I find it hypnotising to run a chain through a sub's nipple ring, attach it to my own, and share the sensations as it moves link by [ahh!] link; exquisite and heightening. Hmmmm, been awhile since I've had a pierced man...
Hope you enjoy yours soon.
