I really think self-dishonesty is a big culprit in relationships that don't work. We (figuratively) want something to be a certain way so badly we convince ourselves that it is. But it isn't. Then the truth unfolds down the road and we're faced with it, and have decisions to make.

This was certainly true of my last serious relationship.

As for my 18 year marriage? Mostly we just grew apart.

Have you ended a dynamic for one of those three reasons?

If you haven't, would you be willing to share the reason you did end the dynamic?

I'll add a fourth reason - lack of mutual chemistry in the everyday, since I've ended a few for that and had another sub end one with me for the same perceived reasons....

This being the age of the internet n all, I've been guilty of thinking with my "D/s dick" when I've thought I've found an ideal match before. One relationship went for over a year before it one day dawned that, outside of the dynamic, we didn't really have much in common AT ALL. That I'd actually look forward to her going home at the end of a weekend together etc....

So I'm done with looking online - the rewards are too friggin' few for the energy expelled.

Focus.
