It is never surprising when academic and theoretical fabrications of history fail to meet the facts on the ground.

Your last two OPs assiduously avoiding actual history in service to speculative ideology notwithstanding, of course.

Wow, didn't know you were keeping score. [:D] My point above was that the theory should match the reality on the ground. If you would care to defend the position that America is a nation of plebes being fed bread and circuses, have at it. If you have issue with my position that we had a strong working class until technology, globalization, outsourcing of jobs, and undocumented immigration wrecked havoc upon us and created a wider wealth disparity than ever before, have at it. If you have nothing to contribute to the discourse except some snarky remark then I politely invite you to butt out. [:)]

Financial deregulation and resultant financial 'innovation' are apparently out of your awareness.

No question, I'll butt out. Who want's anything to do with such ignorance.

Have fun with all the 'political theory' and 'social theory,' now.

PS

Actually, it was your tribute to the economy of war, and the benefit to the world of empire, etc. just to amuse yourself by the responses, that displayed what a fool is at the helm, here.

Not at all. But that had nothing to do with the post I was answering. So, I had no reason to raise those issues. You just wanted to take a cheap shot for some reason and jumped in without paying attention. If you think the financial dervivatives were germaine feel free to explain your pov. Nobody is stopping you.

Pretty shallow when you resort to insults and personal attack. Not sure what your peeve is and I don't really care. I posted an article in which the author gave his explanation of hegemony from the realpolitik frame of reference as opposed to idealism like neo-conservatism. Maybe it was too sophisticated for you. I didn't endorse his pov. I only tried to explain it to people who were having trouble comprehending it. I am not responsible for what Kaplan wrote just because I posted the article for discussion. Sorry you have trouble with that concept.

Thats why much of the UK`s manufacturing industry has vanished. Other nations now do it cheaper.

Cheaper as in slave labor?
As for english manufacture...I have one of your automobiles...one of the finest examples I have ever found, a mechanical marvel...nightmare(if you have to pay someone else to work on it)

Indeed slave labour. I mentioned that in my previous post. History shows us slave labour, either by force or piss poor wages has long been a tool of capitalism. I think I am right in saying Henry Ford was the first big time industrialist to pay a decent living wage. Both in the UK and the US once inflation pushed up wages. manufacturing started to get outsourced. TBH the low wages paid by gangmasters in the UK, using illegal immigrants and or students, is little more than slave labour anyhow. It certainly doesnt provide enpough income for ones basic needs, food and shelter.

What car do you drive...... I am curious.
