FR Having just removed another virus scanner my son insisted on putting on my comp. Ive always found viruses are aimed at the scanners. if you don't have a scanner you get left alone. I'm told I have my operators built in thing, adding another is a waste of time and money. Your experience may vary, but ive never had a virus in 15 years.

Where the fuck did you hear this piece of clap-trap nonsense?? That's about as useful as saying "If I can't see you, you can't see me" kind of logic. Viruses, trojans, worms, hijackers, and various other nasties have NO IDEA whether you have an AV scanner or not. If you really think by not having one you'll get passed by?? Think again!! That sort of -head-up-your-ass thinking is dangerous. If you don't have any AV scanner - how the fuck do you know whether you've got anything on your machine or not? And you obviously have no idea whatsoever if YOUR machine is sending out viruses to anyone else out there! Sheeesh! What a dipstick!

Of course, it helps if you run Ubantu Linux, instead of the expensive virus magnet called Windows.

Mostly truth. But don't forget that they make virus scanners for linux too. Ask yourself, "Why." Technically you can't catch a virus in linux. They are called "worms" in the *nix world.

FR ~ I have not read all the way through, but where the hell is the pirate talk on Avast>? I just enabled sounds and dont see anywhere that pirate sounds are available.[&o]

You have to select the other language you want to download it first, and then pick it once you have done that.

Ill be danged I would not have thought that a language...well, and of course I got a language set up error, it appears mine will stay in English....:(

One thing that I wanted to add about the paid version of Avast. They say that your renewal begins on the day when your current subscription expires so that if you renew early you do not lose any time being covered. My experience is that this is not the case. If you renew 30 days before your expiration then your new subscription starts then - and you just threw away 30 days of coverage. I like the product but I renew on the day that it expires.

It is aimed at malware which is another kind of unwelcome program.
