Mom and I haven't always seen eye to eye, and indeed we still don't. We can drive each other nuts in that way only parents and children can. But her love for me has always been a great gift, especially in this challenging year.

I hope others have been similarly blessed, and I invite any thoughts about or shout-outs to your own moms.

Don't mind me - just spraying a little Glade, where I farted in the entryway.

I hope everyone with blessings gets to appreciate them tomorrow.

Tomorrow I get to put flowers on her grave for the very first time. Love and miss you, Mom. [:(]

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms on CM!!!!

My mom certainly wouldn't have won mother of the year award but she was my mom. Of all the things she taught me, the one that always stood out when I became a mom was that I didn't want to be a mom like her. But, in saying that she was one of the best grandmothers ever. She loved her grandchildren more than anything until the day she died.

My chiildren (now all grown and successful adults) are the 3 greatest accomplishments of my life. I will celebrate Mother's Day with my 2 sons and their girlfriends and will see my daughter in a few weeks when I go up for a visit.

I love listening to my kids now talk about things that happened when they were growing up ... the things that they remember or that made an impression on them (especially those that I had no idea the kids feel the way they do) . I love that they are grown and have lives of their own, but I also love when they grab my hand to hold or give me a hug or when I hear their voice or see their face when the conversaton starts with "Mom ....". There is no telling what will come out of their mouths .. and that didn't change with age. [:)]

There is nothing like that first moment when you hold your baby and know that feeling of being a mother for the first, second or third time ... just as there is nothing like seeing them as adults ... knowing that as their mom, you did good. [:)]

So .... Happy Mother's Day!!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms here. Mister P61, Athena, dcnovice, msj2u, thank you. I watched as she drew her last breath, same as my dad. Takes something out of you to see your mom and dad leave like that. I'm going to the cemetery now with a bunch of lilacs from the tree she planted in the yard. She liked lilacs. And orange roses. Thanks again.

Back to the happiness. Hug your mom if you still got her.

FR

I talked today with a dear physician friend, who'd accompanied my parents and me to a surgical consultation at Sloan-Kettering last week. He said he was struck by how supportive my folks were, not even blanching when my sexuality came up. "They're really there for you!" he exclaimed.
