The legislation does not propose creating a national database of Americans' biometric data, and any suggestion to the contrary is a misreading of the bill. Senator Rubio's goal is to reduce future illegal immigration by creating an effective employment verification system that uses existing public databases, offers alternative ways to establish identity, and establishes an appeals process to protect people's employment rights.[/color]

Just how the heck does one verify anyone's identity for, say, employment purposes, if one cannot compare to the nation as a whole? I see tremendous double-speak in the above. Existing databases contain information on US Citizens. This proposal is a new layer of surveillance.

I did not see, for instance, any exemption for US Citizens' Passports being incorporated into the proposed system.

I'm not paranoid. It's you that's drunk the kool-aid.

Oh FFS . . . . Passports and drivers licenses are not biometric. Can you seriously imagine everyone in the country lining up voluntarily to have a digital photo taken for a biometric data base? Wow, Yachtie!!
