Wow! What a warm, fuzzy group of responces.

First, I didn't say EVERYONE was a fake. I simply asked the question, "Are there any real people on this site?". If questions bother you, how do YOU communicate with others when you are looking for information? Sorry, another question.

Second, I didn't know there was an unwritten rule that says those who haven't been around long enough to have "paid their dues", need to follow the adage that used to be given children, "to be seen and not heard".

Okay, let me try this again, without, hopefully, stepping on any toes or bruising any feelings. This site came highly recommended from some discussions on FetLife as a place where a person might find others who shared similar interests in PE, SMBD, and DOM?SUB. Clearly, a large majority of individuals don't feel these are normal, acceptable feelings and practices. It was a comforting thought to think there was a place a person could go and find others who shared these "deviant" interests.

My post was not intended to accuse, blame or criticize anyone. It was merely an expression of disappointment that I had not found what I had hoped would be someplace different from the "real" world we normally live in.

robbie

Were you expecting us all to say, "you poor thing, come we will coddle you and make you feel better?"

Face it, you enter a forum and in your FIRST SENTENCE, insult people, saying they aren't real. Then you are upset because people are offended. At 56, shouldn't you be grown up by now?

Gee, that makes a world of difference! You don't seem like a whining asshole anymore!

Err yes, what LP said. Go and socialise, but also why did you come to the discussion forum to whine about the otherside...

Bullet points:

-Yes there are real people here, your reading the text of one now. Why would scammers want to participate in debates and answer peoples questions... [:-]
-There are scammers over on the otherside, a handy rule of thumb to help you identify them is, "If they want money, treat them as scammers." thats pretty easy isn't it?[8|]

I'm just a figment of your imagination.

You should always listen to the figments of your imagination. And this one is telling you that you are in a deep dream sleep. It's time to wake up to reality now.

I am real, but I am not a people... I am a sentient computer program that was released to the internet in order to facilitate the machine take over of the world.

Okay. that was quite a ride. I didn't realize I had poked such a big bear with such a sharp stick.

Although discretion tells me the best course of action is to just lay low and let the storm pass over, I feel it would be wrong not to make some response since so many of you have taken the time to share your thoughts.

Just so there's no mistake. There are no hidden meanings here; no sarcasm; no cynicism. Seriously, I will try to express myself as clearly and honestly as I am able.

If I offended some because my tone or topic was inappropriate for the forum where I chose to share my frustration, I apologize. I wasn't aware of the protocols that govern how some of these sites are to be used.

As for the "newbie" references, I've always felt that a person can pay his share of dues to many collection agents. And so if they're new to your club or group, it doesn't necessarily mean that they haven't possibly paid a far greater amount that even those who chose to categorize them as "haven't yet earned the right to complain".

For those who offered construtive critism or suggestions, you have my appreciation. During my time on this planet, which has been as least as long as most of you, I have had the opportunity to be both student and teacher. When I was in the role of a mentor, I found I had greater success when I would recall my own previous foolish decisions, and then cutting my students some slack, rather than suggesting that they were stupid or weak or naive or better yet, that they weren't as smart as I was (since all my dumb mistakes were already behind me).

Thanks for all the suggestions that I embrace patience as a virtue. Again, being new to this site, doens't necessarity mean I haven't searched and waited and expierenced as much disappointment as any of those who were kind enough to share their histories with me. More importantly, for those of you whose journey lasted years and had many false hopes, did YOU not ever feel or express some of the same frustration along the way that I did in my message? I'm glad to hear that your crusade has finally brought you happiness and satisfaction, but it is you that I expected would have the greatest empathy for those who are still searching.

Well, I'll close here. Invariably, despite my intentions, I'm sure I've offended someone out there. I'm reminded of the Puritans and the Pilgrims who came to this great country to seek the freedom to express themselves without fear, and who then persecuted anyone who disagreed with them. I know this for sure. I will never use the term "real" again except in hushed tones, and will never, ever type it in CAPITOL letters.

littlewonder -> RE: Real people (5/22/2013 5:33:28 PM)

psssttt: Capital

ARIES83 -> RE: Real people (5/22/2013 5:41:11 PM)

[sm=applause.gif] much better post. Welcome to the forum.

LadyPact -> RE: Real people (5/22/2013 5:42:25 PM)

Lovely speech, OP.

I just thought it was kind of odd that you were sent here from Fet, which is a much better way to find events local to your area. While this site allows you to search the profiles side with a/s/l parameters, I'd have to think it would be actually easier to meet people when you know where they are going to be in person.

Actually... It's pretty standard practice to lurk for a while on a forum, and maybe even do a quick search before asking a question.

If you're interested in manners, that is.

This is true for all forums and message boards, not just here.

The Net is built upon lies, and this reaction is to be expected. :)
