Thankyou everyone for your thoughts!

Especially MistressDarkArt for her kind words & encouragement, also to Redmagic for the advice as to how to throw it back in their face .
As I have been a member of CM for less than a fortnight, I don't expect miracles, I'm just enjoying the message boards & message chatting to people. If my Lady is out there, that would be the icing on the cake.

It's just that it was a real high when I thought I may have found my soul mate, I came down with a thump when I smelled the set up, I think that was the most upsetting part. I had one message from an idiot/scamster, how much more soul destroying when a Lady looking for someone, has to sift through maybe dozens of insincere messages, just to find someone she can take a chance on. I have every sympathy, as I've now had first hand experience of the 'dark side'.

I guess we all have to negotiate the mine fields & kiss a lot of frogs before we reach journeys' end .

No, I won't give up, MistressDarkArt, there are a lot of good people here, & I won't let one nasty piece of work get me down.

Thankyou all again for your support, best wishes, Gary.

I am sorry that happened to you. People tend to have high expectations online and you really have to curb your enthusiasm and heed red flags.

Hi 'Sexyred1', thanks for your message, she seemed so genuine, but, you're right, I'll try & curb my enthusiasm & try a more wary approach in future, but, you don't know what people are like until they do what they do. I'll watch out for the red flags .
Best wishes, Gary.

There is a big red warning on this site that says DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO ANYONE

that would include credit card details.

Yes, when I was looking, I made a point of practicing non-attachment until we'd met in person a few times.

It goes tenfold for CC details, because once they've got that they can take you for a great deal more than you've got.

Reminds me of an old comic where an seductive couple show up at a failing sex party, and suggest the game where everyone throws their car keys into the centre of the circle, puts out the lights and picks a key to find out who they're swapping with. And when the lights go back on, the strange couple are gone... and so are everyone's cars.

Yes Kalikshama, non attachment seems like a good idea, especially as I might be in for a long wait .

Gary my friend, if it's any comfort, I would much sooner engage someone who participates on the boards as you do then answer some random binary knock on my CMail door. Hang in there. It can, and will happen :-)

Hi MistressDarkArt,

Again, thankyou so much for your support! If ever I feel down, I'll remember this message. Although I must say that it's probably my weird working shift pattern, & resulting insomnia that goes some way to explain my participation on the message boards ..
I hope you are well, best wishes, Gary.

Gary I agree with MistressDarkArt, it will happen in time. I think most get excited when someone new pays attention to them and when new themselves, I think it happens even more so. You are doing fine.

Thanks for your support, I really do appreciate it.

The Lady I'm searching for is something special & is worth waiting for.
In the meantime, hope to meet great people on the way, & I really love these message boards .

Yeah, coming in late but just echoing others... free but you have to enter your cc details? Run. If someone *actually* wants to video chat for free, well, you said yourself she had Yahoo. Tons of other free programs out there like it, too.

Wait...been on here a fortnight and thought you already found your soulmate???? Seriously????? Wow.

Hi Littlewonder, Think it was too soon to have found a soul mate? Stranger things have happened, but, perhaps you're right

Hi Gary ... i agree with many of the earlier posts ... and it appears You have a handle on the whole thing '... though I will add one thought

Lightning can strike quickly, typically it does when you LEAST expect it.

Online though is ubiquitous with all kinds of scams. Concentrate on how to differentiate between a scammer, and the real. It is difficult to discern initially; but with time you will immediately know.

That is when lightning will strike ... and it WILL be a soul mate.

i have met some wonderful Ladies .. between all of the scams.

And have learned a little, about differentiating the two, online.

Good luck!

Thankyou for your words of encouragement, You are quite right in what you say, there is wheat amongst the chaff . I've chatted to some really lovely people. The scammers will have to get up very early in the morning to catch me out!
