It's breaking all over right now... no need to post a link to the more than 50 sites that popped up on a google search. This one is not going away anytime soon.

Constitutional rights have been around for a while...I would expect that they will stay around for a while longer.

I agree but her evocation of the 5th does little to put this matter to bed.

The LA Times article about this mentioned that she had discovered that people under her had been focusing on Tea Party and "Patriot" groups in 2011 and that she had made changes. If accurate then she really shouldn't have anything to hide. She may simply be protecting herself until a full investigation of everyone else is complete. Nevertheless, it is an interesting development. I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes.

There NO MATTER TO PUT TO BED. The IRS checked out 70 conservative groups out of 300 groups applying. That's 1/3. There's no issue here other than the crazy birthers just won't shut the fuck up about how much they hate Obama. That and since they're white, if you treat them like everyone else, their feelings are hurt that they're not special. See also: Christians. Every President has been Christian. But they complain still how they're oppressed.

The interesting twist was her decision to make an opening statement about her innocence of any wrongdoing, before invoking her 5th Amendment rights, and refusing to answer any questions. I don't see where she waived her rights by doing that, but the appearance she made seemed very contemptful, both of Congress, and the American people. I don't think that is going to play very well.

Yeah well it seems she might have blown her 5th right when she gave an opening statement proclaiming her innocence. When Rep. Whether or not she did anything illegal (or even had any responsibility for the profiling), she's clearly nervous that she might be getting in legal trouble over this. Her refusing to testify won't be the end of the investigation, though. If anything, she made herself look guilty. I'm no lawyer, but I feel like probably she would've been better off taking the same tactic of "I didn't know anything" as the other guys.

Someone is going to have this hung on them, right or wrong. The White House has shown the shell game they are capable of playing in regard to the truth through the whole Benghazi fiasco. She is probably well aware that they will sacrifice her in a heartbeat even if she is not at fault. Make them prove it. I think she did the smart thing.
