One of the historical defenders of Obummer and the DNC is starting to realize they may have cut their own throats ...

Unions Are Scared

Peace and comfort,

They had to sign the bill so they could find out what was in the bill. Now they know.

"In Florida, the dwindling band of tea-partiers was furious with Scott, calling him a Benedict Arnold. But the cause he supposedly betrayed has already lost.

After following the tea party agenda over the last two years, Scott has the support of just one in three Floridians. Now he’s acting like a competent executive. He said he would evaluate the expansion over time and decide whether changes should be made. That’s a great idea. It’s too bad the law’s opponents wasted three years hollering about socialism and tyranny.

Scott argued that the Supreme Court and the 2012 election made Obamacare inescapable, but he also made a personal appeal for the expansion. The recent death of his mother gave him “a new perspective,” he said. “I thought about my mom’s struggles raising five children with very little money. I remember my mom’s heartbreak when she struggled to find health care for my brother. I don’t want any parent to worry like my mom did.”

“My top priority continues to be to make Florida the global leader for job creation,” the tea party traitor said. “But we also have to be sensitive to the needs of the poorest and the weakest among us who struggle to access affordable, high-quality health care.”

Obama couldn’t have said it better himself."

Their throats are not cut. Health care benefits is only a part of any benefit package. I saw all this coming years back. No one else did?

While I can understand your need to drag the right into any conversation so you can bash them, this thread is about the union and their fears regarding Obamacare. Do try to keep up.

Personally I think anything that makes the union scared is a good thing. With the new laws in place maybe more people will drop them.

they did the same thing with social security and advertized it through their media as "insurance", and what do we have now? Hell you pay in on it, put your money into an account for your whole life then they tax you on it when you draw on the account!

carlin nailed it, they own this fucking place and they will get it all back, sooner or later!

You're correct. Carlin leaned to the left and hated the right. He was funny in his younger years but politically he was full of shit.

FrostedFlake -> RE: Ooooops! The Bill Comes! (5/24/2013 11:39:17 AM)

Is it the Unionized Labor that is upset or is it the Union itself that is feeling sorta like dead weight and hoping no one notices?

Wouldn't it be more constructive to find a better thing to fight for, rather than insist on being allowed to continue a fight already won?

Full benefits for part timers.

32 hour week.

24 hour week and two jobs.

College tuition.

There is always something else that needs doing. Unions are a powerful way for working people to help define their society. Unions should look forward and attempt to remain relevant.

quote:

David John Marotta, Forbes Magazine
What is Rent Seeking Behavior?

Voluntary trade benefits both sides. Unless both parties believe they will benefit from the exchange, they will not consent.

In most exchanges both parties can produce the item they are trading more efficiently than they can produce what they are receiving. Producing a surplus of one item provides each party something to trade for someone else’s surplus. Having more than your family needs opens the opportunity to trade the excess for profit.

Unfortunately, when property rights are weakened and the ownership of someone’s wealth or goods is debatable, people can gain more by trying to appropriate that wealth than by producing themselves. This behavior is called rent-seeking.

Rent-seeking frequently requires spending your own resources so you own someone else’s surplus in the end. In the public sector, for example, government lobbyists are hired to sway public policy to benefit their companies and punish their competitors. Although hiring lobbyists clearly benefits the company they represent, the work of lobbyists does not add value to the larger marketplace. If property rights on the surplus the company seeks had been more stable, such roles for lobbyists would never have been created.

Rent-seeking doesn’t add any national value. It is coerced trade and benefits only one side. Rent-seeking can include piracy, lobbying the government or even just giving away money.

Imagine a thriving sea trade in which ships carrying cargo receive a 20% profit on the value of the goods. Now imagine the first pirate who arms his boat with cannons and rent-seeks the profit. The pirates are not producing any value of their own but are spending their own resources to capture the surplus of the shipping trade.

If the pirate ship captures just one in every hundred ships, the average profit for the traders will drop to 19%. Meanwhile the pirate ship is seizing a 100% profit. There is incentive to join the rent-seeking pirate trade. By the time 10 pirates are competing for plunder, the profit of honest merchants has dropped to just 10%. At 20 pirates, there would be no profit remaining and no incentive to engage in the shipping trade.

And he goes on.

Sugar Free Kool-Aid Powdered Drink Mixes

*** UPDATE: Unfortunately the entire Sugar Free Kool-Aid product lineup has been discontinued by Kraft Foods. However, there is still quite a stock of it at available at Amazon as of the middle of July 2012, so you may want to grab some Sugar Free Kool-Aid while there's still some left. ***

not that what you sweeten it with makes any difference.

I think you're correct that he leaned left but I do recall him once saying "Fuck the poor" which I view as a contradiction.

No thank you. Water is fine with me. Might benefit you as well to lay off the koolaid and actually learn some things about the people you idolize.
