Hi, I am new to this lifestyle and do have a Dom, but he has suggested I learn all I can from another submissive. I have always been interested in this lifestyle but never found the right person to do this with until now.

I live in Virginia and if I could meet a mentor near me that would be great otherwise, online communication is good.

I'm kinda old fashioned. I think that a sub's primary information source should he her Dom. At the very least, he should have a hand in speaking with a prospective mentor to verify that she agrees with his own views.

Welcome to the forums.

Hello and welcome, and what DS said. If he isn't sure, perhaps both of you should get mentoring? I know when I started out, I had to pretty much fake it convincingly until I got more confident. That was the normal thing at the time, now there's tons of resources available. Best of luck in any event.

Greetings and welcome to Collarme and the forums. I too agree with DS and MC your Dom should be the one teaching you what he wishes not a bunch of strangers. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I should have been a bit mor informative.

I am new to this, yes, but have done a lot of research over the years. My Dom is a wonderful man I've known for years but didn't know he was into this lifestyle. He always has treated me well, and treats me even better now as his submissive. He gives me a lot of guidance, he is gentle, understanding, demanding, etc., all traits I love. He has no problems telling me what he wants from me or how he wants me to act, but he feels that having a mentor would help me as far as some of the things I'm trying to understand.

I am a strong woman, very giving and I love to please, and I know that I am a submissive by nature, but I sometimes think that if I'm totally submissive, I will be a doormat. I fight that feeling and know that getting the perspective a submissive a who have been in this for a long time, I will better understand the emotions.

Hopefully that helps better explain why I'm looking for someone to mentor me with this journey.

Putting aside the word mentor, which obviously has a lot of connotations to people, I think getting to know other submissives is a great idea, even if they don't agree with your dom's style. It helps to speak to someone who has experienced similar emotions and challenges, and it's good to see how different people make things work for them.

Welcome aboard. There are some interesting conversations going on, perhaps by joining in on the forums you will start to see which people sound like they might be worth talking with and which people might not have as much to offer you.

If you go on Fetlife, you will find many online groups and you will also find local events where you could meet other subs.
