They might have cause to question how a certain amendment vaporized

and how the rights of the common man vaporized

How rights continue to vaporize at gun point.

They might even be inclined to point the finger at

All presidents bar one are directly descended from a medieval English king

but I am sure its just yet another one of those inconsequential freak coincidences of nature?

The only president not related was Martin Van Buren. A good old dutch name meaning neighbors...[:D]
Money is power and kings and queens make damn sure they keep it. They don't even wanna rule the land no more. They just want lots of stock.

okay but how many other people can be traced back to someone in the 12th century

our rights are long gone, we could get them back, but it would require people caring more about their rights then about their guns or their tv shows or anything else so inane

Many have been admiring the Bene Gesserit breeding program the United States runs for their presidents and politicians.

But most the European nobility are also interrelated and most are now cousins.

The focus on entertainment is absolutely ridiculous in the US. I'm guilty of being an avid fan of the NFL, though I don't really contribute a whole lot to its bottom line. TV programming is being overcome by "reality" shows that expose and celebrate the extreme. While entertainment is important, when it becomes more important to spend more time out of reality than in it (even if the show is a "reality" show), then the way has been lost.

People caring about their guns, is tied to a right, so you might consider rephrasing yourself on that one. [:D]

Welcome to the boards

Who needs the Electoral College when you have the Gom Jabbar?

Yes, we are to be continually distracted while govt. chips away at our so-called inalienable rights. What has always been a historical contest is the ability of govt. to frame the debate and thus remove from [it] the idea that it is govt. that has no rights not granted by man.

To the extent govt. has successfully accomplished this regime refutes mankind's desire to attenuate power and over a short 200+ years we see now that power will raise its ugly head and eventually take the world.

This is accomplished through govt's. ability to hide behind its assumed function of the country's security. Once you have the people believing that their security is threatened or 'under attack' somehow...that becomes the beginning of the end.

We ignore Franklin's warning along those lines as well as most of the other brilliance of our founding fathers where it concerns the rights of man and the limitation of govt. power.
