Really, you only need to worry about the person you are traveling with being similar. It's remarkably easy to "do your own thing" on a cruise ship. My last cruise lasted 32 days (boy did I want to take some of my "staff" home with me, lol). There were people who never left the ship when we were in port. They stayed by the pool, read, etc. Others spent a great deal of time eating (there is so much food!). Still others wanted to take every excursion offered, but then some chose to just get off the ship and find their own way. There is no obligation to do anything. You don't even have to go to the restaurants if you don't want to, since room service is included in the price of your cruise. But hey, wouldn't we all like to be able to charter the "Lady Britt?"
