Alright, according to a recent program on the science channel, there is one man that is working on the protocols that the world should follow on the off hand chance that we get a call from alien life forms...

He is too decide who speaks for all the humans on earth. He is also the guy that has to figure out what steps all the world's armies should take.

A couple of problems with this system.

1) Who actually knows what all the humans on this planet is thinking?

2) how the hell is he going to override the natural philosophy of humans? You know, it looks hostile lets fuck with it!

Well, it helps that I'm telepathic, and in the PR biz anyone worth their salt can spin any quality positively.

"We are emotively collusive in our interactions with foreign entities."

...now, tell me more about this show that was advertising my bid for world dom- that is, my self-sacrificing service to my fellow human beings?

There was a line in the movie Men in Black, where Tommy Lee Jones said to Will Smith about how individuals can be thoughtful and smart, while people in a group can become a mindless herd, or something like that. That would be the main problem.

The second problem would be, who would they talk to? There's over 200 nations on the planet, loosely aligned in a weak and ineffectual body called the UN. Would these aliens even have a concept of a government? Or would their concept of it would so alien to our own? Would they even care enough to bother? A civilization or lifeform (I purposely make this distinction) capable of interstellar flight would have to be very advanced compared to ours. So advanced that they might not care that we have governments. Or that we're sentient.

The guy with the biggest guns makes the rules and anyone who can manage an interstellar flight has got substantially bigger guns than us. My theory is that if someone shows up on the front porch the right way to handle it is however they want to handle it since anything else is... well... implausible.
