Americans get ripped ripped off on everything. Health care and medication are higher, education is higher, salaries are lower, and jobs are fewer. The reason Americans are getting ripped off always comes down to GREED.

It looks like, yes.

I do remember discussions where Americans are irritated about how much tax we have to pay...but well....our university is not free of charge due to nothing...

In regards to health care costs, I paid last year 2751 Euro into our health care system over here, but reading the issues some are facing in the US with astronomic bills and getting bankrupt, I am more than happy to pay that....as I know that I only pay the common fees for prescriptions when I need meds and dont face such bills or getting bankrupt due to ill health ever...

My mum who just went through breast cancer could concentrate on getting better and did not have to worry about how much it might cost and if she might lose her house...

and for that fact I am happy to pay into our system...just my humble opinion...

But I do remember how once a guy in America got pretty angry when we spoke about a potential change in your system....sort of dont dare to agree with Obama's plan to change...after all, he is well insured from his employer, so there is no need to change the current system...

Anyway, I do hope that one day everyone in the US will have affordable healthcare...

As many have discovered, employer insurance isnt guarenteed. Lose the job, lose the insurance... and Cobra (The cost of insurance that many people can opt to pay while out of work due to sickness) is far a far greater expense. My own was a bit more than twice the rate.. for a day one plan..which paid very little.

Dont judge me because I sin differently than you.
If you want it sugar coated, dont ask me what i think! It would violate TOS.

It's the job of a legislator to find solutions, and opposing the ACA without putting forth an alternative is skullduggery. The health care panel was an idea to cut costs, and the Republicans seized on describing it as a "death panel."

Sure. But since none of the legislators are even trying to do their job much less succeeding now what? My point remains. NOBODY has tried to control costs at the societal level. At best the democrats have tried to shift some costs from the poor to the rich which isn't a bad thing. But nobody is addressing how many yachts there are in a bottle of aspirin.

There are some cost-control measures in the ACA, but not to the extent that other countries have, so we're not going to see the kind of savings they have. I think now that insurers will have to compete more and be more open about their prices, there may be some private-sector pressure to lower costs. But I don't think that's going to be as effective as having the federal government directly negotiate with drug companies etc for low prices like other countries do.
