Question for the mods - 6/5/2013 1:22:05 PM

I've seen several profiles where someone has taken it upon himself to decide who is and who is not a fake. This profile this profile are examples of his "work." I fully understand the frustration and I have reported a couple of profiles I knew were fakes because they used pictures of Raven Riley as their own. The difference is that I reported the pics because that's all I can do. I don't have the "l33t skillz" to go rewriting somebody's profile.

Here's my problem with this guy's actions. What's to stop him rewriting somebody's profile if he were to have some personal disagreement with a real person here instead of being a self-appointed vigilante against fake profiles?

Report the profiles.
Black listing is not allowed.

eta: If you know someone has stolen pictures and you know who owns the copy right. Although you can't report them as stolen or file a dmca notice I'd suggest sending the owner of the images an FYI email with links.

So you're complaining about people who are breaking the rules by breaking the rules yourself? Yeah, that's gonna go over really well with the mods.

stef,
I didn't even think about that.
He is black listing someone himself.

I'm not a mod, but I have come across many profiles that are similar to the ones you've
given as an example, and while I can't for the life of me figure out why someone would
go to such lengths to "warn us", I do take advantage of the Report Profile button that the
site provides. Once you press the Report Profile button, you are then given a few reasons
as to why you are reporting. In this case, it would be Criticism of a specific username or named person.

This happens every three to six months when some new asshole joins and thinks he is the only one who can spot fake profiles. Then takes it upon himself to police the site for the rest of us.

Don't worry, it doesn't take until they realize that its like trying to hold back the ocean with a broom and finally give up.
