I fully believe in Safe,Sane and Consensual in my fetish life and in my life in general. I know there is also "RACK" Risk-aware consensual kink." Whatever term someone want's to call it, the message is still the same. Safe play. I realize not everyone believes in either concept. I will not engage in any fetish play with that person at all.

I know trust is very important in this "Lifestyle". Especially for the submissive. Being so open and vulnerable for me requires a lot of trust. I also understand why some people are discreet about their "Lifestyle" choices. What other basic commonsense guideline's are there for people in Fetish? Simple suggestion's when first meeting anyone? I know basic common sense but any extra advice, especially from people in this Lifestyle who have experience, would be appreciated. Thank you.

Learn something new everyday. I see what RISK mean's. I prefer Safe,Sane and Consensual myself. I may be aware of the risk's and it may very well be something I am not into.

SSC and RACK are both insanely important. They should both be used in every. Single. Aspect.

SDC and RACK are for pussies. I believe in PRICK!

Personal Responsibility in Kink.

Actually, its all mumbo jumbo. Saying you are safe because you have some label means you are an idiot. Being safe means you are safe. Even playing safe has risks. The more people worry about safety the less safe I tend to find them.

There are few things in life that are truly safe. Everything in life has risk and could be fatal, even a simple ball game.
I have heard those two more in response to a couple of stories of women taken against their will, tortured and nearly killed. There are people out there that would call that BDSM. Hell no people huge difference, even if the person consented the victim was not aware of the risk, and was still a minor and unable to give consent.

I was taught to play safely and responsibly long before I heard of any anacronyms for doing so. I personally would not give a rats ass about what anacronyms a person claimed they played by. I'd rather judge actions and take it slow and safe until I figured out weather a specific individual deserved my trust.

it's the term for the sake of the the thread. I don't care what you want to call it, SSC, RACK, PRICK, whatever. This isn't about about livng by some "motto" written in stone. Its simple guidelines and suggestions for safe play. that's all.

Everything in life come's with risk. If I go swimming in the Ocean, I am taking a risk But, there are simple common sense suggestion's that can easily reduce any risk. Anything can happen but chance's are, if I follow some basic common sense, I should be fine.

http://www.dominantguide.com/201/safe-sane-and-consensual-a-proposed-definition/ I found this on Google and this seem's to give basic general details on what "Safe,Sane and Consensual" means. These kind of thing's are good for beginner's and people who might want to remind themselves(me), that there are at least some general basic's to what "safe play" should be about. You don't have to agree with any of this but that's not really why I started this.

If someone can't even agree to basic "safe play", then more power to you. Count me out.

I really do take your point - but oh my god... don't get a RACK vs SSC thread started!

lol,I don't want to start a thread like that. That's like comparing "sub vs slave" in these room's. Get 2,000 different answer's I think we all get the idea. I certainly don't care for the "this vs that" debate.

The whole point of any such guidelines is to re-inforce in people's minds that there are risks to this kind of play, that they need to know them and make decisions based on that. Some take SSC to mean rigid rules of thou shalt not, whereas RACK is more free form, freedom to take more risks, but to me it doesn't matter, because when people play the idea is you think about the risk and make informed decisions about taking them or not. For example, I suffer from claustrophobia, so there are things I cannot do in play others would consider old hat, like being in a total bondage hood with no eye holes or anything......would totally freak me out, it could literally drive me off the deep edge, and whether SSC or RACK, would be something I wouldn't do, period.

The problem people have with SSC is that it seems to them too limiting, rigid bounds and so forth. A friend of mine into Scuba Diving made the analogy that SSC is like standard recreational diving, that limits you to about 100',how long you stay down and has standards of what you should and shouldn't do to limit risk (like minimizing exposure to the bends, if I remember correctly, I am not a diver), whereas with RACK, it is more like more adventurous diving, like going deep, crazy wreck diving, etc..

I agree with others, the importance isn't the labels, it is in learning what the risks are, and deciding whether you and your partner(s) want to take them, and how you take them...in other words, learn and communicate:)

Someone asked in the Health section about bladder inflation, the how too's and its safety. Since I tend to agree with both SSC and RACK, I answered both questions. Its not a smart idea... but, if you are going to anyways....

I would rather people have the information than to simply say "NO!" like they are a bad child. That will only lead them to want to do it all the more without any knowledge of how to do it safely.

The same things I would do with anyone I meet....talk to them.

Nothing special. I don't see how bdsm is any different from any other way of meeting people.

As for the safe, sane and consensual....yeah, we pretty much don't follow any of that. lol

The labels are about coolness and being "in"...

Online, SSC tends to predominate because it is so warm and fuzzy

At real events, everyone thumps their chest about how extreme they are so they do RACK.

Its all bullshit on some level. Since there are no real standards on what is safe for most of this, or sane, or even reasonable risk, its just hyperbole.

what one person calls extreme, another sees it as everyday normal for them or even fluffy.
