ShaharThorne -> I just hate this... (6/8/2013 6:36:04 AM)

Part of my bipolar is I spend too much money. Oh, I do have a savings account to use in case of emergencies, but I LOVE eBay. I allotted myself $25 for a present for my birthday on the 12th and was able to get 5 books by Margaret George to add to my historical collection. Then I got Mom John Fogerty's new cd for Mom and just now ordered her 10 new books since she has gone through all the romances and mysteries we have. She has a broken fibula so she is laid up in the recliner or wheelchair.

I paid all my bills and recently upgraded my internet to Gen4...baby, this is FAST! Now I can watch movies and shows on Netflix. Lizard gave me her account info so I can watch Doctor Who.

I also get SNAP which I use for meats. Just a mere $56 and I cook the meals around here since Mom has the cast on. My SSI is below poverty level anyway.

I also buy Lizard's textbooks when she gets her booklist for college. We have an understanding of I get them for a bargain price, she pays me back when her funds come in. That enables me to get some clothes when she pays me back (really...I need size 2X pants...I am losing weight here). I want a gym membership but Mom says no (she is my payee). Maybe I should take the advice I gave RS a while back...kettle bells...they will strengthen my back muscles.

So my savings is in the black, the payee account has some funds and I got enough funds to see me through the month AS LONG AS I STAY OFF OF EBAY!!!

I am also paying off my student loans a little bit at a time. They are reviewing my case to see how much I should really pay since I am below poverty level.

You can always add ebay to your blocked list in your browser's settings. If you don't think you have the willpower, password-protect it with a random combination of letters that you'll forget right away. Voila! - no more ebay for the rest of your life. [:D]

I have a simpler solution, find all the arcane texts detailing the alchemy process to create the philosopher's stone and just change lead to gold. Simple.

FR - If your mother isn't collecting books (as you are), why not borrow them from the library for her?
Many library holdings are now online, and she could search for what she wants to read on her own, then you could pick it up for her.

I'm not an ebayer, my downfall is amazon, the kindle store. I could easily buy $25 a day worth of books.

Perhaps you have something like the Book Thing in your area or look into when your county libraries have sells.

I used to be part of a book exchange. It was a group of avid readers we would post what books we had available and then we would swap them with one another. It was wonderful!

Ok, so you want a gym membership. Tell your mom not to allow you to buy off of ebay or anything else and tell your daughter to buy her own books since it seems she is able to with her own money coming in and then you will have enough for a gym membership.

You could also talk to your doctor about getting a prescription for a gym membership. If there is a medical reason it is needed then some insurances will pay for it. Check with your insurance company (which I'm guessing is medicare) and see what they cover.

ETA: Plus going to the gym will keep you off of ebay since you won't be sitting home all day on the internet and it will also help your bi-polar.

Check out these online book swaps where you can trade books with others online. There are tons of them. Just do a google search.

I spend to much too. My weakness is crafts or handmade things made just for me.

As long as I do not window shop, I am fine, but once I look around a little, I REALLY, really get off track quickly.

littlewonder -> RE: I just hate this... (6/9/2013 3:47:39 PM)

LGH...when you go out wanting to shop, leave your money and cards at home or lock them in the car. Problem solved. You can't spend what you don't have.

LittleGirlHeart -> RE: I just hate this... (6/9/2013 4:31:38 PM)

I'm happier in the long run not window shopping.

littlewonder -> RE: I just hate this... (6/9/2013 4:33:36 PM)

and in the really long run you won't because you will have no money to pay the bills or those credit cards you all are now delinquent on and now have bad credit and can't move out of your parents' house because you can't afford it because you guys spend too much money.

LittleGirlHeart -> RE: I just hate this... (6/9/2013 5:37:28 PM)

I don't wish to move out, even if we could afford to, not unless we moved into a house with a yard and no restriction on dogs. I enjoy being able to pop my head out and track my parents down down in minutes and say hi anytime I am tired of being by myself.

It's my goal after bills are paid to not window shop for an entire month.

I know what you mean about Ebay. If you want it, it's probably there. Even if you don't want it, it's probably there. And if you SEE it, well, what happens next depends on the candy quotient.

And it's no further away than anything else on the internet.

Annasnew -> RE: I just hate this... (6/10/2013 12:17:11 AM)

Bored out of my mind

garyFLR -> RE: I just hate this... (6/10/2013 4:16:34 AM)

John Fogerty cd -brilliant!
Doctor Who _ Brilliant!

Money well spent. Avoid the gym though, I would [:)].

ShaharThorne -> RE: I just hate this... (6/10/2013 7:21:00 AM)

I think she has read every fiction book there is in the library. I am trying to get her turned on to Hillerman because the library was selling his books and I bought all of his books.

If we go to garage sales, she will buy books if we bargain with the owner.

lovethyself -> RE: I just hate this... (6/10/2013 7:50:23 AM)

Our library now has ebooks available to borrow. If yours does, your mom could browse online and sign out the books she wants without you needing to make a trip to the library. It might also save you needing to buy the books on ebay if you can find them at the library.

pahunkboy -> RE: I just hate this... (6/10/2013 9:42:32 AM)

OP- I sure do remember you.

Timely post. I just got back from the bank... I had to borrow cash from a neighbor. I bought seeds on ebay- and silver- and ....party stuff.

ShaharThorne -> RE: I just hate this... (6/10/2013 9:47:49 AM)

PA!!!! I missed you! How have you been doing?

Mom does not do the Kindle. I have the classics, paranormal and a few romances on there but she like the paper...I lack 3 books for the Pern series and I will order them in July. At least I 'budget' myself. Bought "Blazing Saddles" last night for Bo...his copy is all scratched up.

pahunkboy -> RE: I just hate this... (6/10/2013 9:59:11 AM)

been good- got the yard in shape- looks great- got a newer car- the body could co-operate more- pain levels and all- you know the drill. Bah.
