D/s Quality Ratio - 6/8/2013 9:10:36 AM

This is tongue in cheek but there is also real truth in it. It was inspired by someone I know pining for a collar, to be owned. A collar is a symbol, nothing more, and some have much more meaning than others.

Enslavement Rate = Years in the scene / Number of collars given out (higher number is better)

18/1 = 18 ( 18 years, 1 collar)
18/18 = 1 (18 years, 18 collars)

Ownership Quality Ratio (1-6 months - .25 / 6 months-1 year- .5 / 1-2 years - .75 / 3-5 years -1 / 5 years or longer 2 )

EXAMPLE

Two people, both 18 years in the scene, one has collared one person for 3-5 years, another has collared 18 people for various lengths of time.

18 * 1 = 18
18 * .6 = 10.8
8 @ .25 = 2, 6 @ .5 = 3, 2 @ 1 = 2, 2 @ 2 =4, Average is 11/18 = .6

Oh this was old, I wrote that years ago on fet, but that other ratio made me think of this one and repost it. I don't care enough anymore to write much new stuff.

Maybe you're just experiencing a little burn out. That might make an interesting topic itself - how do people work through burn out after being in the "lifestyle" for a long time? It's a very different mindset from newbies who still read things and see pictures that make our mouths drop (and not in a good way!).

I am in no way "burnt out" on kink or life. The public and the online scenes are focused on the surface stuff, the shallow stuff. I have done tons of pickup play at parties and events but it doesn't feed me anymore.
I know enough to see patterns and lies and pandering from leaders and so its hard not to gag or lauvh at public events anymore.

I am single and for the first time ever, I am fine with that. I will find an amazing woman again at some point and build a fabulous relationship and be done. I hate to say teanscended but it is the best word for that. I don't mean it in the way that makes me better, just simply in a different place.

Have you stopped to think that a lot of people cannot calculate a division by zero??
If number of collars given just hasn't happened, it's zero.
I don't think your formula is capable of going into the complex number realm.

And I don't agree with yours scale of Ownership Quality Ratio either.

Pure unadulterated fantasy figures that make no sense whatsoever.

I'm sorry about that; burned out was the wrong choice of words then, but tired of the superficial aspects of bdsm might be more accurate. Your reply was along the lines of what I meant by a thread from the perspective of people who have been doing this a long time.

Even at less than a year since introduction, I've seen my interests and what I value change. At first my attention was caught by the pictures and videos and posts I read on Fetlife. After a fairly short while, all of that seemed superficial to me and the smaller discussions on collarme became richer to me.

Now, at the ripe old place of 11 months in, a lot of what I find in the collarme threads seems lame and I spend more time on the off-topic discussions.

I suppose the only place left for me after that pales will be the real world.

I did.

So why did you care to mention that it has some real value to it??

That makes the statements mutually exclusive so it makes no sense whatsoever.

Hi SimplyMichael,

I get both the tongue in cheek bit and the seriousness.

So many newly declared D/s relationship are basically instant collars: just add submissive partner.

Guess again. Between this post and your comments over in the SS & C thread, it's you who needs to Google "tongue in cheek" and even "sense of humour" etc.

Hey, I'm not judging; I'm getting old, too! But we're all affected in different ways. Finding an "amazing woman" and building "fabulous relationship"? And unicorns, too? Geeezus Simply, no-one can save you from being you - not even you. Me, I'll stick with at least keeping my sense of humour - yorta try it. Errrrm, what's the "C" stand for in PRICK?

C'mon mate, lighten up. I've been at this awhile myself and I'm scratching my head about wtf your OP is really about, here. That some are better at long term relationships than others? For starters, that's more a matter of how *two* individuals relate to each other and gel as a *couple*, whereas you're putting it all on the one person or role. Kinda like that "amazing woman"....

Focus.

Focus,

Hmm. So my ER is 4.25, and my OQR is 20.19. (What? I like math.)

I'll add to the pot.

Worldly Experience & Learning ("WEAL") Forum Posting Rank

[not to be confused with Those With Unparalleled Experience, or "TWUE" Forum Posting Rank - see hereafter]

1. Count up the number of posts you've made over the years. Don't look under your avatar; WEAL posters don't cheat.

2. Divide the number of posts you made by 1000, and round up.

3. Add the number of years you have been posting in the forums (rounding up fractions of years).

** The number you get from following steps 1-3 is your Consistent, Reliable, Accurate Posting, or CRAP, score. **

4. Count the number of replies your posts have received. WEAL posters know that every post they make gets a reply.

5. Divide the number of replies you received by 1000, and round up.

** The number you get from following steps 4-5 is your Fan-Allocated Knowledge Excellence, or FAKE, score. **

Now take all of the CRAP you've done, and add in the amount of FAKE you've produced, and you will have your Worldly Experience & Learning ("WEAL") Forum Posting Rank.

To determine your Those With Unparalleled Experience, or "TWUE" Forum Posting Rank, reverse the adding order: start FAKE and add in all the CRAP you can.

Recent arguments have risen as to whether or not posts with smiley faces should be allowed in post counts, supported by the argument that you cannot use smiley faces and be WEAL or TWUE. I may create a poll to gather statistical figures on this at a later time.

Haven't see ya 'round for awhile. You haven't returned as some form of self-therapy? You know, to do some talkin' down in order to still feel relevant and good about yourself? No THAT would be sad....

Otherwise, what I said - lighten up a bit.

Or....

Focus.
