You would THINK that they'd call for his immediate impeachment, but Boehner's just not going there.

I wonder what Boehner got for his support of the White House? Access to the spy data?

Because the program the NSA is running was one modified by Bush, that was started by some president before him.

Now if Boehner and the GOP started calling for a full scale investigation, then it would come back and bite them on the ass, since Bush had to act with some sort of approval by congress, and the president that started the whole thing had to have some support when the whole thing started.

Then there is the simple fact that nothing the NSA did is illegal.

While cracked.com is usually a humor site, they sometimes have stuff that go into more detail than the news media.

Why would the GOP do anything to stop the continued implementation of the already Constitutionally illegal Patriot Act?

This. Both parties are actually in alignment on most or all of the core issues. Both support corporatism. Both support surveillance and expanding police powers. Both support pretty much everything I don't support.

It's really as simple as this.

It is, if you want it to be simple, and fit neatly into a box. Of course, that means ignoring Ron Wyden, Rand Paul, and the rest who are not marching along with the line of the day.

Of course this is legal. That's the fucking problem. We need bright lines to contain it, and severe consequences for those who would abuse it.

I agree. There are a few. Much as I think he's a hypocrite I think Rand Paul might be on my side on this one with some vigor. Elizabeth Warren at least tries. There may be one or two others somewhere. But honestly if I can name exactly 2 out of what must be near 700 or so that's not exactly encouraging. Even if I assume there's 400% of that who's names I don't know.

But I thought we wanted them to be bipartisan and work together and this is what we get!

congress and the several legislatures are NOT required to pass law that meets the test of constitutional.

They get tax money to write shit law and the people that are affected by it have to reach into their own personal pockets to defend themselves against it!

If they are wrong fuck it, its at tax payers expense, if you are wrong well guess what your lifes savings were just wiped out paying penalties and lawyers fees!

How the fuck is that EQUAL rights??????

If we are in fact "citizens" and dealing with government business we should have free access to the courts using the same funds the government uses to level suits back against them. There is the inequality here that the government is a sovereign king and we the assholes cant play in the same play ground as they do.

All men may very well be created equal which we can wipe our asses with when in court against the "sovereign" overlord "state" who claims more rights than we have.

so one department of government makes it legal to impose upon our rights, and the grand pupa branch of government will fix it?

All in the family! How can we expect larry to fix and correct what moe and curly did? When it helps fill the pockets of larry too?

Now if anyone out here were to form a corporation that did the same thing it would be called COLLUSION and we would be up on rico charges!

I guess being a sovereign king has its perks.

1.01 State sovereignty and jurisdiction.
The sovereignty and jurisdiction of this state extend to all places within the boundaries declared in article II of the constitution, subject only to such rights of jurisdiction as have been or shall be acquired by the United States over any places therein; and the governor, and all subordinate officers of the state, shall maintain and defend its sovereignty and jurisdiction.
