I have the basic and love it. Haven`t had network tv for over three years and love that too,tho I get my share of adverts online.

If you have internet, you really don't need to subscribe to cable services. You can find the networks online, and watch their programming line up there. Not to mention sites like project free tv.

I'd probably get rid of my cable, if my mom could maneuver the internet. I'm still having to help her figure out the basic remote control she has for the tv... I cringe at how much time would be eaten up with finding her shows for her on the internet.

We have a wii and get a very good picture and sound. I can't tell the difference between that and satellite. We didn't get the DVD's for now. We are pretty big movie snobs and I do not want to pay another fee for something I hardly use.

We got tired of paying a huge amount so my 8 year old daughter could watch kid shows so we knocked our tv package way down and got netflix streaming instead. There are tons of shows for her and my husband is all set since he loves all the sci fi shows on there but I just kind of go eh. Not many of my shows are on there that I can see. I watch things like criminal minds.

So do you have netflix? What shows do you like watching on there?

I don't have netflix (yet) my primary has had it for awhile. He rarely watches regular cable anymore. Lol

He tells me it has tons of kid friendly movies and cartoons.

His only complaint has been recent and that was that they took away of the classic stuff. He would rather watch the old stuff (me too) than the new series and shows. He has told me that they have way more than they let you see on the samples.

I think you might be able to find Criminal Minds on Hulu.

Criminal Minds isn't part of the Prime instant videos on Amazon, but a whole bunch of other things are. I can't afford it at the moment, but it is only $79 a year and it gets you unlimited streaming video to your computer or kindle. For the tech savvy, I think there is a way to hook your computer/laptop up so that you can view it on your television, but I'm not tech savvy, so I don't know.

Winsomedefiance:

I have always done that with a lot of my shows when I missed them, go to the channel's site on the internet. Not all shows are available and recently when I went to watch one of my shows on Lifetime (Army Wives, I love that show), they now have you put in your cable account number to be able to view, but not all cable/dish companies are there (mine being one not there). I think it sucks that they are doing that. Of course, soon the cable companies will make that an "extra" that you can opt to get for more money.

I just download stuff of the torrents.

We used to get in the mail too, but 18 dollars a month wasn't worth it to us. So we only stream and truth be told, I do not miss neither blockbuster which I had, nor dvds from Netflix.

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: Do you have netflix? (6/13/2013 9:11:49 AM)

We started watching an episode of The Fall last night, then faded, but what I saw was great. The creepy stalker guy in the 1st episode is too real for words.

Hulu doesnt work in canada, pfttttttt
and netflix is a third of the choice it is in the US.
But I get what I need, I only watch tv for the news on local stuff,

LittleGirlHeart -> RE: Do you have netflix? (6/13/2013 1:40:03 PM)

I'm watching walking dead and supernatural.

slaveluci -> RE: Do you have netflix? (6/13/2013 8:16:02 PM)

I've had Netflix for many years and love it. I used to get three discs in the mail at a time and not use the streaming option (back in the beginning when you only got a few hours of it per month). These days, I do one disc via mail and streaming on Roku. I keep the mail option because many things you can only get that way. To supplement Netflix, I also have Amazon Instant where I can rent all the newest stuff "on demand" for a couple days and watch other streaming things for free that Netflix doesn't have. Between those two and our great library system selection, there's not much I can't see when I want to.

I agree with whomever it was that said that about not always finding what you search for but having an open mind and checking out things I browse and find. Some of the shows I currently watch or have enjoyed in the past on Netflix are:

Keeping Up Appearances
The IT Crowd
Strangers With Candy
The Sarah Silverman Show
Law and Order: SVU
The Walking Dead
The Shield
Top of the Lake
Sherlock
Longmire
old Saturday Night Live (all the way back to the first season), Alfred Hitchcock Hour, The Twilight Zone, Columbo and others

Too many to mention but those are some off the top of my head...........luci

Netfilix rocks...

And, if you truly cannot wait for a program fix, there is Amazon Prime.
