Get a dog. Walk the dog for an hour each day.

Limit your diet to plain yoghurt only for a couple of days. See if that makes a difference.

Currently I am chugging water to make sure I am not dehydrated.

That is a terrible idea. Hypertension is caused by, among other things, too much blood volume. Drinking a lot of water would increase your blood volume making your blood pressure go even higher.

I think in my fruit- and veggie juices books many people experienced getting it down with the juices which contained raw red beetroot...but will have to double check that and get back to you via pm about that...beside that...see the doctor!!!

It is better today-- I dont have a gadget to measure it.

Then how do you know it's through the roof?

If you're on BP meds, you should get a "gadget" and self monitor, especially if you're reluctant to see the doc.

Popping ant acids like crazy. I can FEEL when it is high. However- I think I will take your advise and get a gadget. Mom had one- I was shocked that my BP went up when my uncle came over.

Most of the time- this is all manageable. Only the past few days has it been a problem-

Most local pharmacies have machines.... but get a machine. The ones for your wrists work just as well as the huge ones for your arms. Some indication of the number is better than none.

And anti-acids are not going to help.

And on top of that you want to dance?

Check your blood sugar. When my blood sugar is too low (and sometimes when its too high) I have symptoms very similar to those experienced by someone who's blood pressure is too high.

I know pregnancy is different but my BP started going up so I was sent in for monitoring. I had a monitoring appt and I knew my BP was even higher, I just did not feel right. I had even called around for someone to drive me I felt that off. I was right it was 189/117 at monitoring. They took it four times during that hour and it did not go down much so I was sent in to have my baby a few weeks early. But anyways when I was laying in bed and they had that machine taking my pressure every 5 min. it did go down quite a bit after I had been laying down. So try laying down I guess. Personally I would go to the doctor.

While you are waiting to get in to the doctor, stop listening to/watching the news.

Ten Simple Steps to a Better Life

9. Rejuvenate Your Spirits
Been feeling stressed out after watching or reading the news lately? A "news fast" - avoiding news on the television, newspaper or the Internet for a few days or even a week - may help renew your spirits. It is a good way to gauge how you react to and process news, and how the news affects you.

If it seems outlandish, consider the following:

- Both local and national network news have increased their emphasis on crime, even as U.S. crime rates continue to decline. This is particularly true of local news.
- Studies show that violence, death and other negative images can provoke changes in mood and aggravate anxiety, sadness and depression.
- Feelings of depression and sadness can lead to a negative view of your own life.

Perceiving the world as violent, unsafe and hostile can have negative effects on your body, as well. By taking a news fast, you can develop a more conscious relationship with the media - and promote greater mental calm within yourself. When you spend more time in harmonious mental states, your body will function better, and anxiety and over-stimulation may be minimized. Give it a try!

So let me get this straight:
You are worried about having a heart attack, but are ignoring the fact that one of the symptoms of a heart attack is "heartburn".

Blood pressure has been thru the roof- I been spitting nails past 2 days. I do NOT want to go to a DR or ER.

What can I do around this house?

Die?????

Seriously....get to the ER! The only thing you will do at home is either die or someone calling an ambulance because you're having a heart attack on the floor.

DomKen just told you how bad that would be for your blood pressure. You won't prevent a heart attack by drinking a ton of water trying to "cleanse" your body.

Yes, people can feel when their blood pressure goes up, however, you can't say it's been through the roof because you simply don't know.

Honestly, everything you are describing can be any number of different things. It could be that your blood pressure meds aren't working, it could be a mild heart attack, it could be a panic attack (many people who have severe panic attacks think they are having a heart attack), it could be heartburn.

You won't know if you don't go to the doctor. I know that two of the medications you are on may not be refillable without a new prescription, and even for the others, doctors want to see you every three months to re-evaluate and monitor how they are working. So you must be seeing a doctor for that. Make the appointment!

Oh, and only 8 pills? Pffft. I take 13-15 and there should be one or two more added to that. My morning medication IS my breakfast, since after all those I'm not hungry for about an hour after.

Have you been checked for gall bladder? A lot of the symptoms mimic cardiac issues. Just a thought.

Gall bladder began to turn gang green 10 years ago- was in the hospital for a week-- it is now removed.

What Otter said ...

But, having read this thread ... I kinda think the OP likes the attention he's getting. Just a feeling I get. I could be wrong. (Since it seems other people around here know him from some time before.) But the fact that he keeps coming back, saying more things, contradicting common sense ... Kinda tells me this is someone who enjoys the attention.

My BP has run high occasionally in the past. Doctor put on medications a few times, which I did not want to be on, so I try to control my BP through diet, exercise and relaxation when needed.

I thought I was having a heart attack a couple of years ago. Pain in my chest, down my arm. My son and I just sat down in a diner and had our lunches served, too. Rather than eating, he rushed me to hospital. It wasn't a heart attack, though. It was exhaustion and stress, probably caused by working my 2 jobs at the time. 7 days a week. 8 hours M-F and then 10 hours each on Sat and Sun. in a local college cafeteria. I quit the cafeteria job after that because it scared me so much. A couple hundred bucks a month wasn't worth putting my health at risk.

I now don't eat salt, caffeine is limited to 2 cups of coffee in the mornings (sometimes I have iced tea during the day, but I stop ingesting caffeine after 7 pm---I'll have to change that hour with my new work hours, too). I take a multivitamin, omega3, and calcium supplements on a daily basis (I don't get nearly enough calcium in my diet) and am working on eliminating fatty foods...it's far too easy to pull into a fast food drive through for a 99 cent sandwich when you're busy all day. I am purchasing a lunch bag and am planning on carrying sandwiches with me, along with keeping a stash of snack crackers and bottles of water/juices/7-UP in the car.

Hunky, I can tell you from sad experience to never fuck with high BP. It killed my 2.of my brothers, and it damned near killed me. It's one thing to just up and die, quite another to have to live with the consequences. We are not like Iron Man, we don't get a little voice warning us that permanent damage is imminent. Just my fast reply two cents worth.
