Hey- get ahold of your state rep- license plate fees are going to increase to the cheapest prices of $166, and will cost even more if you drive more then 12,000 miles. Gas tax PA goes up 28.5 a gallon- this will make us among highest in the nation.

That's insane! Going from $36 to $166 or more? Might be time to think about leaving PA.

Whoa... it doesnt seem to be that bad....

If signed into law, motorists would pay $50.50 for a driver's license that would be valid for six years, instead of the $29.50 they pay now for one that lasts four years, and they would pay $104 for their vehicle registration every two years, instead of $36 annually.

Drivers who violate traffic laws, such as speeding or running a red light, would also face a $100 surcharge on tickets, as well as an increase in fines for failure to obey traffic-control devices from $25 to a sliding scale of $100 to $300.

The biggest increase seems to be for those vanity plates

The bill, sponsored by Sen. John Rafferty, R-Montgomery, would raise the one-time fee for personalized plates from the current $20 to $76. The same increase would apply to the hundreds of special organization plates that recognize various groups and institutions.

As far as the gas tax....

Pennsylvania lawmakers are likely to vote this week on a bipartisan bill that would uncap the state’s gas tax. Pennsylvania’s gas tax is supposed to rise alongside gas prices, but an outdated tax cap still on the books prevents that from happening when gas prices exceed $1.25 per gallon. The result has been hundreds of millions in lost revenue as the gas tax has failed to keep pace with the rising cost of construction. The change is supported by Governor Corbett, and is just one of many transportation revenue enhancements that have been debated or enacted this year.

I loved that! Ironically it was dumped as it was a partisan issue! We later paid a consulting company something like a million $ for a new slogan- which ended up- basically stealing- I think it was ocean city slogan. These days I have no idea what our slogan is.
