Racist Basketball Fans PISSED a Mexican-American Boy Dared to Sing Their National Anthem quote: 10 year old Mariachi singer Sebastion de la Cruz was thrust into the national spotlight last year on America’s Got Talent. Tonight, he was once again seen by the nation as he sang the national anthem at Game 3 of the NBA finals in San Antonio where the Spurs took on the Miami Heat. As you can see, patriotic Americans were NONE TOO PLEASED that a Mexican (don’t tell these people he’s Mexican AMERICAN) sang the United States national anthem - a song so beautiful that bald eagles usually cry whenever they hear it but not tonight because a Mexican sang it. Twitter Explodes In Disgusting Show Of Racism Aimed At A 10-Year-Old Who Sang National Anthem quote: A 10-year-old boy son of a Navy sailor, born and raised in Texas, is slimed by bigots who can’t seem to think, spell or write a complete sentence. There are no words that could adequately explain how the Internet has caused me to lose most of my faith in humanity today. Twitter exploded with racist rants against the child singer. At ten-years-old, he’s already had to deal with the ignorance and stupidity that runs rampant on the Internet. People who run their mouths with racist, sexist, or otherwise discriminatory rants on the Internet are the lowest kind of coward there is – the kind that has to hide behind a computer or a phone to spout their incredible hate. Thanks to the Public Shaming Tumblr page, we have a compilation of the tweets aimed at De la Cruz. THE SAME SAN ANTONIO WHERE THE MAJORITY OF THE POPULATION IS MEXICAN. quote: “Who dat lil #[mod edit to remove racial epithet] sangin the national anthem at the #Heat game????” –@Tj_Tha_Dj quote: “Can’t believe they had the nerve to have a [mod edit to remove racial epithet] sing the national anthem of AMERICA #smh” –@bdub597 quote: “Is this the American National Anthem or the Mexican Hat Dance? YEAH, HIS HOMETOWN TEAM. DE LA CRUZ WAS BORN AND IS BEING RAISED IN SAN ANTONIO, THE SON OF A NAVY SAILOR. In a television interview, Sebastien responded to the racists, with dignity and poise well beyond his years, saying: “PEOPLE DON’T KNOW, THEY JUST ASSUME THAT I’M JUST MEXICAN. BUT I’M NOT FROM MEXICO, I’M FROM SAN ANTONIO, BORN AND RAISED; A TRUE SPURS FAN.” This child is a wonderful example of how to take the haters with grace. I am in awe. Unfortunately, I’m positive that his comments will only lead to people (and I use the term loosely) asking for his birth certificate, as is apparently standard operating procedure when dealing with anyone whose skin color differs from theirs. Well this is very sad. And this is why many of us constantly criticize the right-wing view of America (as strictly a white Christian country). It was NEVER that. Right wingers are racist. I've always felt that, and when I see things like this it, sadly, confirms it. There is a reason a majority of white men and women vote Republican. They want to return the country to a fictionalized past that never occurred. It would be funny if it were not so demented.

There were just as many non-causacian idiots doing it as there were caucasian idiots, but I guess people will always see just what they want to see.

Yeah,when I saw that I meant to come back here and remark on that.....I'm a little late in doing so ,but I still want to give props to the San Antonio Spurs for having the inspiration to poke the racists in the eye by asking this kid back What the hell,there's another game Sunday night,let America hear this kid sing it again [:)]

What a shame...here is a kid who actually KNOWS the national anthem (you'd be amazed how many kids don't) and is talented and brave enough to sing it in front of all those people....a song of pride. And other Americans' response is to be ugly to a CHILD just because he doesn't look like a caucasian of European descent? Shame on those narrow minded adults. I hope they feel like crap eventually.
