ORIGINAL: missturbation Apologies but im finding it amusing that peeps keep popping in and are mortified that harry may die. Its a book - its not real lol. And as for magic rats - benji they dont exist but i do know of a good sacrificial pooch. We know it is not real--we know it is "willing suspension of disbelief" but that ability to dive into another world and just be in a place so engrossing, whether it is by a Bronte, Shakespeare or Rowling is a wonderful gift. And learning that other people have the same vulneratiblities, difficulties, fears, makes our own a little easier to bear. I'm sort of a grownup (34, but I sometimes feel more like 14), but I still love dipping into that magical world. Kids have grown up with these characters more real than anyone on the news, and probably more real than all but a handful of closest friends and families. I was shaken when ********* died in the 6th book, and other grown ups I know were also shaken. Kids were even more so. When art is good to mirrors back parts of our souls we didn't know existed and make it OK for us to let those areas of our lives be more acceptable.
