So . . . hand it over to the Party that wants less government, smaller govenment, will restore voter confidence in government as a positive force? If ever there were a bald contradiction that's it. Makes no sense at all, Rich. How can government be a positive force when run by a Party that offers only negatives?

Wow. It makes perfect sense, Vince, if you can wrap your mind around the concept that not everyone sees placing more and more faith in government is a desireable and positive thing.

Whatever. Have a lovely night.

would be nice if you made a decision here, Rich. Either people are disappointed that govt cannot be a positive force (post 12) or placing more faith in govt is not a positive thing (post 14)

Whatever. When you work it out let us know. Have a good day.

Is he,(Obama) running again ?

slvemike4u -> RE: Obama: You've Lost That Loving Feeling (6/18/2013 7:02:35 PM)

Actually Rich(and others) are making a common mistake. They misinterpret what soft popularity numbers,(for Obama)means.
It means there is dissatisfaction for/with Obama from the LEFT !
These are not folks who would be inclined to move towards the right due to a feeling of disappointment with Obama......these folks won't move right at all.
Ergo no advantage for the right, none at all.

Vince, it's the Democrats who need people to have faith in government. I would suggest you try re-reading the posts you cited, since there was obviously a comprehension problem. You do understand that I'm in the habit of refering to President Obama as, "the President," right? As in:

quote:

If the President (Obama) fucks up the (Democrat) brand, if he (Obama) crashes the confidence of voters in government to be a positive force in the lives of the people, then yes, he (Obama) can damn well hand the White House back to a Republican, on a silver platter.

When people believe government is the problem, the party that thinks the answer to every problem is more government is going to be in trouble.

Clear as mud?

There is less government and the country is doing reasonably well. The stock market has boomed, housing is rebounding, and unemployment has fallen.

farglebargle -> RE: Obama: You've Lost That Loving Feeling (6/19/2013 3:45:37 AM)

Anyone who didn't know that Obama was a "Team Player" in July of 2008, simply wasn't paying attention, and to suggest that this is new shows nothing but the most pitiful ignorance of the facts.

Rich . . . what people believe and what is the actual nature of political reality are not necessarily mutually inclusive. Just because they think it is does not mean it really is what they think it is. The delusional walk amongst us in multitudes. I would bet there are many in the ranks of the small govt acolytes who, grasping fiercely to their social security and medicare benefits, think the govt is the problem only when it supports the poor, needy, jobless 'others.'

The notion that 'government is the problem" is soooooo 1980s Ronnie Reagan bumper sticker shtick. The current Con movement is soooooo far to the right of Ronnie and Nancy and their astrologers. It is laughable to see people parroting the empty rhetoric of 30 years past. The nation has changed. The small govt fringe is fighting a rear guard battle from bygone years. Sad, I think. They are so easily lead against their own best interests. Enjoy the day. [:)]

You could walk into the deepest part of the lake of Obama's intellect and not get your ankles wet.

I live in one of the bluest places in the country and people here are displeased with Obama but that doesn't translate into support for Republicans or stay home on election day apathy. We learned that lesson in 2010.

1984 only the government can help you.

Lets put things in perspective:

President Obama's Approval Rating is 47%.
Congress's approval rating is 13%.
The 4th Branch of our Government is at 23%

Now which of these three groups is doing the best?

Which is doing the worst?

Should we bash the group that is doing the best more than the one that is doing the worst? Isn't that like counter-productive?

Granted both Congress and Newspapers are not rated on a 'day by day' rating like the President of the United States.

As recently pointed out people don't trust other peoples congressman, their congressman is just fine.

Obama is not what he portrayed himself to be, and I am a democrat saying that.

As for congress, the majority of the members of the house and senate are idiots, regardless of party affiliation.

I am not aware of a fourth branch of government, all I remember learning about the three branches of government, legislative, executive, and judicial.

Unless the fourth branch is the administration of the loony bin who are waiting with the anti crazy meds when needed.

maybe he means the fourth estate

President Pantload's support has dropped dramatically in the last month among 18 to 34 year olds by 11 percentage points.
And at his speech in Berlin the other day, not 100,000, not 50,000, not 25,000 but.................................................5,000 people turned out to see him!
Draw your own conclusions.

tazzygirl -> RE: Obama: You've Lost That Loving Feeling (6/22/2013 2:07:30 AM)

Hmmm.. Pantloads... now who used that expression before
