Ladies, this is something I wonder about . As a submissive your professional skills can be used to help your dominant partner. I have only had ONE lady who used her medical backround to offer me advice for a virus I had. I was curious how many of you use your professional backround to offer advice or assistance to your submissives. Can I have an example? Do you feel that this is inapropriate? Why or why not? Thank you ladies.

Hell yes it's appropriate to offer advice and skill where it can be used. In fact I'd say it's at the core of being a submissive, using what is within your power to make life easier, better, etc for your Dominant.

Examples for me is having used my people/communication skills to help him out, my medical knowledge, my fitness training, computer skills, dietary training, most excellent proofreading skills, tailoring/seamstress skills, organization skills, and research skills. I'm sure there are more things that I'm missing at the moment because I am one valuable person to have at anyone's side [;)]

Doesn't it make sense that a submissive with awesome skills has added value? I'm not sure why a submissive wouldn't use what was at his/her disposal to reflect well on his/her Dominant.

Just a note, submissive is not a gender exclusive term. There are some bangin male submissives on this board that have skills as well [:)]

Lizi,

I think you misunderstood. I was asking how often Dominant Ladies offer THEIR proffession as a help to their sub.

I have experience and a backround as a cosmetologist, bar tender, Personal assistant, hostess, and a small stint as a card dealer.

If a Dom/me doesn't use the capabilities of himself/herself AND the submissive, they're a fool. My sub uses me as she can, and I use her as well.

You are correct, I misunderstood your OP, however my answer doesn't change. Partners on either side should be offering their skills to enrich the other's life.

I help people with my knowledge no matter which side of the kneel they're on.

~FRing it~

I agree with what the others have said. My skills and professional expertise are given freely to those who are in my life. That includes my submissive for sure.

I had play partner Tops who were lawyers and answered a few questions for me.

My D give me advice all the time [:)]

MistressDarkArt -> RE: Professional Courtesy (6/18/2013 8:44:29 PM)

My partners have carte blanche access to my professional skills. Gemology, medical, card reading, soap/perfume/cosmetic crafting, music, yoga, editing, computer and secretarial skills are just a few. I offer them freely to those I care about.

However, it's frowned upon in the medical and therapist professions to use your skills on non clients. Because you're too close to be objective. Beyond that, if you had shown up in a doctor's office, he might well have felt he needed certain tests done before making a diagnosis. But they don't have a lab at home for testing friends and family and without doing a full exam and tests could actually make things much worse.

cutiewithabootie -> RE: Professional Courtesy (6/22/2013 10:36:12 AM)

This is true Mistressdrkart. I don't recomend that people use health care in such a way that they replace tests and their primary care practitioner.

In my case there was a stomache bug going around and the lady I was with had advised me on getting lots of fluid and ways to decrease nausea. It was more like a way mom helps you feel better with chicken soup then her trying to diagnose me. She did actually advise that I go to a doctor if my fever reached a certain point or the virus lasts too long.

As an artist I have happily had conversations with people IDing as submissive to help them with their artistic growth, and likewise I wouldn't reject similarly beneficial discourse from a submissive. I have skills, I love sharing my knowledge, and I love learning.

So... yeah, I mean, some things have nothing to do with the kneel. It's just regular living. Would you share your knowledge with a friend? It is exactly like that.
