I know there are few Western Canadians on here, but I would like to send my prayers out to all of those in Southern Alberta and the BC Interior who are grappling with crippling floods today.

If you haven't heard of this, check out Global News or CTV News

In Calgary, 100,000 people have been evacuated. At Canmore, the Transcanada Highway is washed out in both directions. The community of Bragg Creek was ordered evacuated, but very few got out before the only road/bridge was washed out. The entire Town of High Level was evacuated - 13,000 people. Rescues were performed not only by helicopter, but by bulldozers, combines, and dump trucks.

These communities will take a lot of time and effort to rebuild. Please keep them in your thoughts.

Good luck for the rebuliding work...we have the same stuff going on over here as well...thankfully most areas are better now but it will also cost billions here to repair the damage and as now we have had too much heat, some of our streets broke apart, leading to further loss of lives...

It's awful when that happens and I consider myself lucky that it stopped raining before our river here would have flooded my garage and cellar...but people from other areas of my county as well as people in other counties did not see anything except their roof top anymore... So I do feel for your folks as I can pretty well relate to it...

Let me add my thoughts also. After the hurricanes we've had the last two years, we've had more flooding than anyone should ever have to deal with.

Just to give some numbers, just after 1400 hrs, Calgary ordered the evacuation of the entire downtown core...where an estimated 350, 000 people work on a daily basis. The zoo, which is on an island near the confluence of the Elbow and Bow rivers has evacuated 2 pot bellied pigs and 2 zebras. Evacuation plans include moving the big cats to the courthouse and putting them in lock up.

President's Choice
We continue to express our thoughts and concern for everyone affected by the #flooding in #Calgary and the surrounding areas, and are setting up ways to help.
Loblaw will contribute products in support of the relief efforts, and the President's Choice EAT FLEET food trucks have been redeployed to Calgary.
You can make a cash donation at any Real Canadian Superstore, Extra Foods, Your Independent Grocer, No Frills, Save Easy stores and Wholesale Club across Alberta through in-store giving campaigns. If you would like to help, but cannot donate in person, please donate through the Red Cross http://bit.ly/10EoYIA or call 1-800-418-1111.
just thought I would add this for any canucks reading
