Why does BDSM appear to attract far more than its' fair share of overweight women?

In my personal opinion, the Life Style is more acceptable toward overweight ppl and also i feel that overweight ppl tend to be a lil more willing to submit in order to feel accepted...

Now before i get any hate mail, 1. IT IS MY PERSONAL OPINION!!, 2. i myself AM OVERWEIGHT, but working very hard to change that...

But honestly how can someone think they can make a statement about something that is to many a personal and touchy subject and not expect some emotional replies???

I doubt the OP didnt expect them - but it is pointless and gives no insight into an answer.
Its just subjective hysterics.

If people take it personally....as many here seem to have done...then that is THEIR issue and not the fault of the OP.

Tamerofwild1s -> RE: Overweight bdsm women (6/27/2006 9:56:33 AM)

ok ... over the years I have had varied opinions on this subject ... back in the day I used to think it was an acceptance issue with women who felt they were BBW's .. I have talked with alot of women who say they are BBW . and I in no way considered them that .. just my own opinion I suppose . as I matured thru the lifestyle I noticed something .. society as a whole seems to be less concerned with physical outward appearence .. there are alot fo reasons why people become over weight and out of shape . but one thing that sticks in my head andI keep it there because it made sense ... we are a lifestyle that in my mind is based on a mentality or reaching someone ... to me it's not about the physical outward appearence of a women but what her mind holds. I am far from prefectly shaped anymore .... this is due to diet and age in my books ..... but hell I still have a heart of gold and a mind deeper then any well. why does this society have more BBW's ... well the humorous side of me wants to yell out . hey Big chicks need love too, but the serious side says . it has not a dam thing to do with thier weight ... I have seen and talked with some of the most confident and secure women who carried a few extra pounds on them ... and some of them have held my attention in awe for who they are ... someone I read said as long as your comfortable and confident with who you are what the hell does it matter ..... BINGO
if we have the confidence and comfortability to walk with a smile on our face what does it matter if the girl is a size 4 or 14 ..... to me if she has heart and desire ... thats all that needs to be said I suppose .. I rest and wait to see

I'm still confused why people thought the OP was being mean, or negative, or whatever.

I would think, litle, because some people feel the need to validate themselves.  And so when they see some questions, like the OP - that questions what they are - people automatically jump to defend themselves instead of learning from the question.

But the reality is there isnt anything to defend.  There are a high percentage of BBWs, Bears and larger people - male/female/transgendered involved in BDSM.  You just have to look at the local munch, or group to see it.
Now why that is - is a valid and interesting question - not a personal attack on size.

But thats not the OPs fault.  Thats up to others - theres other good threads going at the moment on here on responsibility of personal feelings.

Pleasureprincess -> RE: Overweight bdsm women (6/27/2006 9:59:44 AM)

I'm a BBW and love how I look. I find more real people in BDSM than the pictures of the skinies in it.
being BBW has nothing to do with being in the lifestyle. It's all how real people end up in either side of the coin.

I agree with you. But the fact that i seem to be more accepted in the lifestyle than in the vanila world isn't why i'm here or why i'm submissive.

I didn't choose to become submissive because the vanilla world found me repulsive. That's a load if i ever heard one.

I would still be submissive even if the world of BDSM found me repulsive.

I agree totally. But then, this becomes another subject of taboo. The "responsibility" taboo.

yes the op isnt reponsable for how people feel twords what he said.... but was it something that needed to be said... Is it something that needs to be pointed out... we are adults we dont need to say every little thing we observe aspecialy if it may be hurtfull to people...  not that he ment to be hurtfulll.... anyway you know what I mean

Tamerofwild1s -> RE: Overweight BDSM women (6/27/2006 10:07:25 AM)

There are alot of things in the world that don't need to be said . there alot of things that should never be questioned .... most won't due to the reprisals they get afterwards ... such as what the OP is dealing with now . the OP simply had a curiousity question and wanted opinion on the matter.

a thought just popped in .. as a society we have always and for the most part by the "vanilla" world been considered freaks ....... heres a question . in the freak show at the circus or carnival ... does anyone remember who the happiest freaks were ??

Round and round the mulberry bush, the monkey chased the weasel.

If they paid $ per the reply to a thread, quickest way to make a million bucks would be to insert the words "over weight Women"  in the title.

                    I think I'll go back to watching people chase their tails..it's ever so much fun [;)]

MrDiscipline44 -> RE: Overweight BDSM women (6/27/2006 10:07:50 AM)

What the OP said was not in anyway inflammatory or hurtful. His statement was quite plain and could've been worded in a way that would very much have been mean spirited, but it wasn't. I see that many people like to do alot of finger pointing, but don't like it when the finger is pointed back at them.

I'm going to try this one last time. He didn't SAY anything. He made no statement. He simply asked a question. As adults we should be able to understand the difference between a statement and a question. The topic of God is sensitive to alot of people too....so does that mean that no one should ever ask about God? There are lots of folks who don't eat beef....does that mean that hamburger recipes are off the acceptable question list?

wolfsong -> RE: Overweight BDSM women (6/27/2006 10:08:59 AM)

i am not a shamed to admit i am a BBW sub and have to admit i find Doms and Dommes much more accepting of that then vanillas but my being submisive has nothing to do with my being BBW i put the weight on as a way to hide from the world and keep people away after bad experiaces.  I have learned to accept myself and why i did things believe it or not i had a Dom who tried to force me to gain more weight but for my own self respect and health i did loose 250 pounds real quickly when i left him as i could not endanger my health and since of self respect for him that way!

  I am what i am and if you only look on the outside then my may miss the treasure thats and girfts i have to offer its your loss not mine wolfsong

litleone8620 -> RE: Overweight BDSM women (6/27/2006 10:09:14 AM)

The fact of the matter is he didn't post the question to be mean. People took it as offensive, and the more people took offense to it, the more people posted, and got more and more pissed off; like a runaway train.

I don't know if it needed to be said or not. But it was said. And it's something that can't be taken back. And honestly, i've thought about his original question before too. I'm glad someone had the bravery to bring up such a touchy subject.
