Turns out it was well known Afghanistan sat on trillions in oil, natural gas, and rare earth metals! So much so the Russians had built a pipeline OUT of Afghanistan long before they invaded. Its also well know Bush had meetings with the Taliban and sent them millions prior to 9/11.

So, if anyone wonders about our record for invadAfghan oiling non oil bearing.muslim states, its pretty much 100%. So, Syria is on her own and Lebanon was only to save israel...

Check the article. It's natural gas and minerals, not oil. The oil pipeline that the Russkies were working on was a trans Afghanistan line, not from Afghanistan.
As for the other mineral wealth, the British knew about a lot of that at the end of the 19th century.

Then again, the MPG figures are much higher here, too.

A war for profit as I have been saying for years now.

Caspian sea oil and gas pipelines are going in and being used as we type. That's why we will enter talks with the Taliban.

"Just leave the pipelines alone, ok ?" OK.

Unfortunately, the land above all that good stuff is occupied by people who prefer to be left alone to have wars with the tribe next door, and enjoy all the blessings of a 6th Century lifestyle.

Fuck 'em. Sell the whole goddamn place to the Chinese, and let them kill off their surplus population of young males extracting it.

There are certainly days when I wish it were that simple. Do you think we could get the Chinese to cancel our debts to them in exchange? That would make the whole damn thing worthwhile.

Wait a minute! Are you trying to tell me that of Bush's two "illegal" wars, the one that hasn't been ended by Obama is the one where there's oil?

I don't believe that the president would ever do anything that's nefarious or mean-spirited or not completely above board and transparent.

Rule, I would have agreed last week but not after doing some research. The interests of standard oil are a fair predictor of involvement.

The fact that oil was there, proven but kept out of thr news is fishy and being talked about as a surprising story is an odd coincidence.

Bush was in talks with the taliban prior to 9/11 about pipelines was well known.

Pakistan and saudi arabia staffed and funded 9/11

But we invade afganistan and iraq...

Aswad, but those high prices help pay for the cradle to grave services and benefits you guys get in Europe. Six week vacations, spa visits, child care, free education and a bunch of other things that we just don't get in the U.S.

Isn't a large part of that $7 gas taxes and doesn't that help to fund your health care? Our gas taxes pay for our roads and IMHO the money is largely mismanaged.
