Status: offline 		I understand the rule about not resurrecting old threads and do my best to observe it.

Still, it puzzles me a bit. If someone finds a vintage topic interesting enough to add to it, so what? I don't see what harm it does, and sometimes other folks will chime in as well, which suggests (at least to me) that the subject still has some life in it.

Yes, I know folks may be answering an OP who's long gone, but who cares? The info and insights may benefit other thread readers. I often focus my posts less on the OP (who may be beyond hope in some cases) but on the "silent majority" who read and may never comment.

Just musing and curious to see what others think.

Status: offline 		I like reading old threads. I've stumbled on a few that were populated with highly intelligent and interesting people, all gone from the boards. It is confusing though when an old thread isn't identified as such. I like the approach the mods say to use, to start the topic anew and insert a link to the "parent" thread. Best of both worlds that way.

Status: offline 		yeah I personally don't have a problem with old threads. I rarely look at the date when someone brings up an old topic. Most of the time I don't even remember the old topic or don't remember responding to it before. But whatever. It's not a big deal to me. I just don't understand why they keep old threads around if you can't respond to them. Either lock them after 3 months so you can still read but not respond or put them in an archived forum where everyone knows they are old threads and they only stay there.

Status: offline 		Why not just start a new thread with the same subject? Incorporate what interested you in the old thread in the introduction.

I do this on a daily basis at work. When something has been worked on to death and I don't want anymore changes to be made and want it to be the final version, I simply lock it. Everyone can still read but they can no longer respond or make changes. If they want a new one they are free to make it. If I find it redundant then I pull it and I explain why. Pretty simple.

I have not seen this happen... The closest I have seen is when too many threads on the same subject are started at the same time. Many ideas have been hashed over many times in repeat subjects with no problem.

Status: offline 		I guess I just don't see the issue with the suggestion of starting a new thread and linking the old one. That still draws attention to the old thread and being able to have a current discussion on the new one.

Of course, they have that nice "volunteer" button for anybody who would like to go back through ten years worth of threads out of the goodness of their heart just to lock them all. I wonder how long that would take to close tens of thousands of threads.

I wish I could remember the name of that poster who decided that she'd up her post count by resurrecting dozens and dozens of old threads overnight. All of the current threads were buried under pages that were from years ago.

I completely disagree with Collarme's policy of it not being allowed to post in the thread older than three months. On most forums the Mods would rather have you resurrect an old topic than to make a new one, but here it is the opposite, they rather want you to make a whole new thread instead of resurrecting a topic, to me that just makes it harder to search through topics as well as often older discussions can add allot to new ones and one loose that history by starting a all new thread, so yes I do not agree with this policy. That being said I am a guest at this forum so even if some parts of the TOS are things I do not think are good ideas I do my best to follow it anyway, after all I am not the one who are taking the cost and work of running this place so I will either follow the wishes of our gracious hosts or leave the forum and I do not think the ban on resurrecting threads are that much of a problem.

Status: offline 		Each website has its own rules and regulations. Even if I may not always understand every rule, I do respect the rules of whatever website I am on. That said, Collarme/Collarchat does provide some awesome features that many other fetish social sites do not offer and Collarme is entirely free. Collarme/Collarchat has good chatrooms,message boards and etc. For the price of all of that, which is free, I'm not one to complain.

I agree, and I do not think I have been on a single forum where I have agrees with everything in the forum rules, and yes there have been forums I have left because they forum rules where to unfair, but really when one use a free service one should not complain either way, it is like being invited to a friend's house for dinner, if one do not like the food one is free to not come back, but one really should be polite and thank for the hospitality and not complain either way.
