I told her I was concerned about the long list of potential adverse effects of the surgery she recommended and asked her for the rate of adverse effects at the Boston VA - she said 0. When I pointed out that that was statistically improbable, she countered with the argument that I could walk outside and get hit by a car >.<

At one point she said 30% and I said just a few minutes ago you told me 0. She said she was referring to the overall rate, not the particular doctor's rate. I will follow up with him.

She also said his satisfaction rate was a 5. I said 5 of...?

Another twit who couldn't make it in private practice so ended up in the VA >_<

Menopause will take care of this issue so I am trying to hang in there til then - if only I knew when. I'm 46. Can't pin Mom down as to when it happened for her.

why not go and get a second opinion?

I have to empathise with you, i gotta have surgery again, not sure when yet, but before summer is over, just had a biopsy, mri and ultrasound, no big c but endo, fibroids and cysts. If he had removed it two years ago, i wouldnt be having alll the attendant pain, mess etc etc.
Also my poor ol mum had to have a cyst removed and polyps and she is almost 80, she finished the 'pause when she was 60
Im so ready to looose the factory, sod this for a game.

I did. I'm a great candidate for a $20,000 non-invasive procedure with no adverse effects that the VA does not offer and won't pay for.

I'm reluctant to have surgery at the VA seeing how my records show I had a skin cancer on my right arm removed when in fact it was the left arm, and they at first told me a bump on my nose was benign but now my records say it's not and nobody bothered to call me - I found this out only because my GYN was looking my records yesterday.

This gives me pause as well: VA Facilities Improperly Sterilized Colonoscopy Equipment

I understand. I have military health benefits...Tricare standard. I used to go to the VA for awhile until they kept fucking me up so I stopped going and now pay extra to see regular doctors of my own choice. Yeah, Tricare doesn't cover everything but I would rather be able to see the type of doctor I want and get the proper care than go to a VA doctor.

My only suggestion is to set up some kind of payment plan for the surgery or see if you can get a loan.
