I have a theory.

Traditionally, among the wealthier families (whether they're D or R), the eldest son or daughter is brought along and eventually takes over management of "the family business".

The problem is that sometimes said eldest is a dumbass.

The solution the last generation or so seems to have been to send that person into politics and now the American people are paying the price.

Are you the eldest in your family, by chance?

The answer to the question, "What is wrong with our leaders (both sides?)" is simple.

Only greed driven morons with just enough common sense to come in out of a tornado run for office.

Plus far too many only lead in more 'free speech' (sic)...in the bank. There used to be a saying. "Well, you can't bribe a millionaire."

In America, you can 'bribe' a billionaire. America Number ONE...in greed !!

There is a simple rule of life that they obviously follow quite correctly.....

You presume that no one else runs, people don't pay attention till you have 4 bozos running for president when they didn't care when there was someone else available.

Don't you think you should blame greed on the greedy instead of "America"?

It might be that all the kids in the family are dumbasses, which makes it even more difficult.

Greed may or may not be a factor, but the current generation of American leaders seem quite different from their grandfathers' generation. Their grandfathers were likely just as greedy, but at least they had a level of competence and actually produced something worthwhile.

The Baby Boomers really astound me sometimes. When they were born just after WW2, America was on top of the world - militarily, economically, politically, culturally. They received a great inheritance and had every opportunity that most others in the world could have only dreamed of. So what did they do? They pissed it all away. Now, as they face their twilight years, they leave a nation in decline with an uncertain future.

I don't think history will be very kind to the Me Generation.
