jlf1961 -> How many of my fellow collarme members have... (6/30/2013 5:52:30 AM)

Well meaning, long time friends (of over 5 years) that clearly know absofuckinglutely nothing about you?

Last night I was treated to a dinner by two friends who I have known for over 5 years and they are in the lifestyle.

The occasion? There was a person I just had to meet.

Description of said person:
Good looking
young
great personality
red haired, green eyes.
5'10" tall and about 130.

All of the above was true, but add to that:
Somehow managed to finish high school while maintaining the speech habit of beginning every sentence with the word "Like."
Wears more make up than a 1930's movie star. Forget the trowel, she had to use a blasted shovel.
During lulls in the conversation, twitted updates of the "date" on her smartphone.
Major concern in politics: That no people her age run for national office. She is 19.
Major concern in current affairs: Lady Gaga had surgery and had to cancel her concert tour.
Her major life concern: Her father is upset with her because she is barely passing her classes in college.
And last but not least, putting ketchup on Mahi Mahi.

Okay, maybe I have too high of standards, I dont know. But considering I put a higher emphasis on intelligence than looks, is it too much to ask for my friends to set me up on a date that has learned to use proper english and sentence structure?

Another thing, I am not sure if this young lady was Emo, Goth, or Bozo's granddaughter.

I think, for a man as intelligent as you come off,you are being very harsh. Overuse of a filler word can be a sign of nervousness. It happens a lot with children, and sometimes nervous young women.
Furthermore, makeup is like hair.once youve messed it, youve messed it. Theres no going back.. Nervous people tend to overdo makeup.
notice a trend?
I cannot say for sure why she wears what she does, maybe she was nervous and wanted to impress you? Maybe she has low selfesteem? Maybe no one taught her how to put it on correctly, or that your foundation shade is seasonally dependent.
i admittingly hide behind makeup, but I hide behind anything .
Some people like ketchup. Maybe she didnt like it and wasnt trying to be rude.
Small talk is small talk.that doesnt mean she feels lady gaga is her mother monster.
I just feel like it is not right for you to assume this girl an unintelligent flake without making effort.

I suspect this is largely an age difference thing. Plus, we girls can be wired a little wacky. But if your friends saw something in her, why dont you ask them what? Maybe you missed the interior fighting off the exterior.
I am also confused why you disliked her so if you agreed she had a great personality and was otherwise attractive?

I just think it is not fair to pick apart a person you do not own.sorry jiff. :( please do not be mad.

To answer your actual question, wellmeaning friends are just that. Well meaning. My best friend dropped off a case of pepsi today and suggested we go tanning, you know, so I dont look like I hate summer and can find a nice attractive mate. Frustrating, sure. But well meaning people are better than selfpromoting people. Good intentions are sometimes enough, despite cliches. So yes, have them.we all do.

She is 19, you are not.

Do you really expect to have anything in common other than, possibly lust?

ResidentSadist -> RE: How many of my fellow collarme members have... (6/30/2013 6:54:54 AM)

. . . putting ketchup on Mahi Mahi.

Deal breaker for sure dude!

jlf1961 -> RE: How many of my fellow collarme members have... (6/30/2013 7:17:48 AM)

The age thing is my point.

Along with the constant twitting.

Okay I have a twitter page, use it to follow a few journalists. I have a facebook account, use it to keep in touch with family and friends and follow CNN and a couple of other groups.

I fail to see the need to constantly update my activities through the day.

And anyone that puts ketchup on one of the most expensive seafood dishes in the country is just wrong. Catfish maybe, but not something that averages $15 a pound, if you are lucky.

chatterbox24 -> RE: How many of my fellow collarme members have... (6/30/2013 7:19:47 AM)

LOL.

HEY, at least she took pride in her appearance! Would you feel better if she had wore overalls, and had sleep in her eyes from an unwashed face. Doesn't sound like you gave her much of a chance. Make up you can change, actually being dumb ( IF SHE WAS ACTUALLY DUMB THAT IS) cant. As for your friends, at least they thought of you, and it is the thought that counts.

( taking up for my fellow make up lovers)

jlf1961 -> RE: How many of my fellow collarme members have... (6/30/2013 7:23:31 AM)

Hell I dont mind make up.

But too much make up is just not cool.

Black eye shadow, red lipstick, and some sort of pale almost white face make up everywhere else.

goodgirlmary -> RE: How many of my fellow collarme members have... (6/30/2013 7:34:57 AM)

That is a look though. I swear to you it is. I cant pull it off, most women cannot. But youth doesnt always knowwhat isnt for them.

Again, is it possible she just didnt know and didnt like it?

MsLadySue -> RE: How many of my fellow collarme members have... (6/30/2013 7:37:48 AM)

I have only one question. What the hell were your friends thinking? Whether the girl was kinky or vanilla, trying to hook up a 19 year old and a 'mature' man is not a good idea. Did they actually think you would have things in common?

jlf1961 -> RE: How many of my fellow collarme members have... (6/30/2013 7:40:10 AM)

I know it is a look, and the youth of today, or at least some of them like it. However, I would have thought that my friends would know me well enough to know that I am not into that look. I mean they have heard my comments concerning pink, purple, neon green hair colors.

She was asked if she liked sea food when the plans were being made. It may be that she didnt like it, but to be honest, she never tasted it before putting the ketchup on it.

goodgirlmary -> RE: How many of my fellow collarme members have... (6/30/2013 7:43:53 AM)

I think she was too young to know Jiff, thats all. In their defensr, youdo love a redhead

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: How many of my fellow collarme members have... (6/30/2013 7:44:53 AM)

It would be interesting to hear the 19 year old's assessment of the blind date.

jlf1961 -> RE: How many of my fellow collarme members have... (6/30/2013 7:50:13 AM)

I would as well.

I have met some very mature for their age 19 to 25 year olds, the maturity usually came from some sort of trauma, or going into the military right out of high school.

And yes I do like red heads. With some caveats, one being an irish accent, not required but it helps.

In the make up department, I like the "less is more" look.

As for something in common with the average 19 year old, well we are both homo sapians, I think.

Ahhhh,19 year old girls. So easy on the eyes.So hard on the ears.
Dude, there's a reason ballgags were invented,ya know? [8D]

And never ever fail to remember that there are no,as in none, nada, zip, zero, zilch, ain't gonna happen, the big goose-egg, not one single exception, not even once to the simple rule that duct tape is THE solution to any and all relationship issues.Especially those that occur with statuesque 19 year old redheads.

angelikaJ -> RE: How many of my fellow collarme members have... (6/30/2013 8:59:13 AM)

She was young and pretty and was willing to have a date with someone old enough to be her dad.

It is true that some 19 year-olds are mature for their age, but the majority of them are well, 19.
Still a teenager, barely out of adolescence with a still developing brain.

You would not fault a puppy for not being an adult dog.
You shouldn't fault a teenager for being who she is.

The fault lays with your friends who thought red hair and a willingness to show up were sufficient...
and since her age was an issue for you to begin with, you are responsible for not declining in the first place.

As for the ketchup on the fish?
Lots of parents pollute fish with ketchup to get their kids to eat it.
It may be something she learned from her family and/or has just not outgrown.

needlesandpins -> RE: How many of my fellow collarme members have... (6/30/2013 9:58:30 AM)

i'd have thought from the pics you constantly post in the eyecandy thread that she was exactly what you want. when you want girls at an age that are still more child than women what else do you expect? she acted exactly as her age group do. not all of them are porn models ya know. plus those girls you post pics of probably do so because they don't have the intellect to do something better with their lives other than rely on a pert, albeit in a lot of cases fake pair of tits and an airbrush.

real life is real life.

needles
