Oh no. I hope he gets well quickly.

Sorry, but I got Aylee's message too and the best case outcome will not be very good. This sucks.

I'm choosing to root for a miracle.

Me too, doctors are not always right.

Thirded (if that's a word) ...and my very best wishes for a better than anticipated outcome.

K.

In my thoughts and prayers.

Hoping for a better than anticipated outcome.

Miracles do happen everyday.

I am not very religious, but am spiritual and believe in the power of prayer and healing thoughts.

Rasciallymisty -> RE: Loving thoughts and prayers needed For Aylee (7/1/2013 4:35:20 PM)

Healing thoughts and prayers are being sent their way.

Aylee -> RE: Loving thoughts and prayers needed For Aylee (7/1/2013 7:37:37 PM)

I have seen this and I want to thank you all. I am never sure how much people really want to know and in this case I think that Tazzy has made the best choice. If you want more information you can message me for it.

I received a message from Aylee. Her husband had a stroke Wednesday night, followed quickly by surgery. At the moment he is in a coma. The prognosis is a bit shakey.

I am sorry for their misfortune.

My best wishes are for her.

Aylee -> RE: Loving thoughts and prayers needed For Aylee (7/3/2013 7:16:09 AM)

Just an update. He is now breathing 50% him and 50% ventilator although he does have pneumonia.

Rasciallymisty -> RE: Loving thoughts and prayers needed For Aylee (7/3/2013 7:22:01 AM)

Still saying healing thoughts and prayers. I will keep my fingers crossed that he will someday no longer need the ventilator. Brad was on Oxygen 24/7 and had pneumonia more times then I care to count....so I am doubling my prayers for you both.

Rule -> RE: Loving thoughts and prayers needed For Aylee (7/3/2013 9:16:47 AM)

The pneumonia likely is caused by being on the ventilator.

I will be insensitive now - with the best of intentions: take him off the ventilator and let him live or die as the Divine will have it. (Him dying like is best for everyone involved. Sorry, but (my) truth is insensitive.)

Could you do everyone a favor and keep your abject ignorance to yourself?

Your insensitivity is not even close to the truth.

I disagree. Keep him on the vent as long as the docs think it's a good idea, you have to give him the best sort fighting chance.

If I'd given it up to the divine then my no1 son would not be here. (Disclaimer : I do not believe in a divine being or force of any description)

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Loving thoughts and prayers needed For Aylee (7/3/2013 10:14:49 AM)

I am sending her and my family positive thoughts.

DesFIP -> RE: Loving thoughts and prayers needed For Aylee (7/3/2013 11:37:04 AM)

Good news Aylee. Here's hoping he continues to recover.

I am going to answer you both at the same time.

The pneumonia is likely due to him being intubated and having aspirated in the beginning. This demonstrates why the can only intubate for two weeks. The risk for infections is just way too high. THis is a foreign object in your body/lungs.

Ya know. . . the decision to end support is not an easy one. Rule needs to talk to his loved ones about his wishes. In fact everyone should do that. Whatever decision I make I will have to live with for the rest of my life. That is just the way it works.

I realize that paralyzation is very scary. There are many people that cannot bear the thought of their bodies betraying them in that way. Rule is one of them.

The left side of his brain is not damaged. He can think and will be able to do all of the cognitive tasks.

We did discuss wishes and as his wife, it will be my decision. However, the surgeon has stated that it is not yet time for decisions.
