See what happens when you have a case of insomnia...you start up threads!

Just having a lovely case of insomnia today. Been working on crocheted projects for the county fair due in September and I got my labels for the projects early.

Mom is limping okay. I fear the break is healing improperly because her leg is twisting a little to the right. She is wearing a boot now but she keeps her leg propped up to keep the swelling down.

I am still doing most of the cooking and cleaning but Mom got a bee in her bonnet and sweeped and mopped the floors yesterday. Made her sit back down afterwards.

My great-aunt is in hospice care now. The doctors are giving her 2 to 6 months to live...damn leukemia.

My second cousin passed away about 2 weeks ago Wednesday. We don't know if it was from his heart ailment (born with a hole in his heart) or from drugs. My cousin got his place cleaned out and are trying to get full custody of his son so they can get his SS to help take care of him (the mother is not taking care of the baby).

No relationship, but I am not worried about it. I rather spend time with the kiddos and see Lizard every few months. She and Bo are moving across the street to a 2 bedroom place. They now got 4 dogs and Binx the cat. The newest dog is called Sif...Lizard has a thing for Norse mythology...Little Bit's girl puppy is called Loki.

Now to drink some Diet MD and twiddle my thumbs...

I finally gotten all of our stuff from Memphis to here. Geez it sucked!
The club is still great. I am doing more sessions now, which I'm loving.
Still wanting to find my own spot though.

Can't really think of much more. How's y'all's July?

Work has been going really well with some exciting acknowledgement of my efforts. But now I have developed cellulitis (a skin infection) in both legs (the first lot of antibiotics failed to help but let it spread from 1 to both legs!). I am bright red from foot to knee and it is physically very hot with burning pain. NO FUN!! Now on double strength antibiotic and hoping this continues to work as the next step is IV abx in hospital and I've no wish to go there. Especially not as Legionella has been found in several Qld hospitals, resulting in one death and one seriously ill. So I am working from home so I can keep my legs elevated which alleviates the pain a bit. Not a great start to July!

Hope others are doing better, though sorry to hear about Your losses Shahar.

Shahar and Dr. MaamJay: I hope your situations improve. Bummer stuff is NOT a good way to spend the summer!

Bambi: Good luck! Hope you keep us posted so we can celebrate your PASSING THE BAR! (Uhhh, no pressure there, huh?)

All's pretty well here. While the rest of the west was suffering intense heat, we had a couple great beach days instead! Over the hill though, different story. 100+ in our inland towns. So glad to be right on the coast.

The band's working so much now it's getting challenging to keep straight when and where we'll be performing. We love it! My luthier band-mate is almost done with my new violin and I can't wait to get her home and start playing her in. He's making a custom chin rest out of some kind of beautifully marked exotic wood, and won't let me pay a dime for any of the work. Have you ever seen such beautiful wood? I call her my 'beach' violin because the lower right looks like ripples from waves on the sand, and the whorls of the birds eye maple remind me of pebbles on the beach. I admit with 2 other violins, I did not need her and bought her just because she was pretty. Lucky for me, with the proper setup of the right strings, bridge and sound post adjustment, she is going to be one sweet, huge sounding violin...so not just a pretty face!

Huck's getting ready to embark on his pilgrimage back east to complete the research needed to finish his book. I hope all goes well for him; the book has been a dream of his for a long time. I want so badly to get my editing mitts into it; y'all know I can't help being the spelling/grammar police!

S and I have been working our greenhouse and everything in it is going crazy! He lives a couple miles inland in the south part of the county, and has better growing conditions than we do at the beach so we decided to locate it at his place. Tomatoes, peppers, herbs, broccoli...all growing like gangbusters!

After the death of his wife of 30 years, my brother is moving forward. He's blessed with an excellent support system from family and friends and has begun to venture back out into the world. It's made for some interesting discussions, often like ones we have here on the boards about guys looking for NSA because they either don't want to put any effort into a relationship or in his case, his emotional reserves are completely depleted. Unlike many of those whiners here on the boards, he IS willing to pay in $$ instead of time. Whether he will actually do/has done anything to that end, I have no idea. Who knows what he will need to experience until he finds his way again. The important things is, he'll be OK.

Hope everyone has a great 4th!

I am doing more private sessions these days.

I have been extremely busy with fetish shoots, both for other producers and my sites. I've meet some amazing local fetish models and pros the last month.

I had the pleasure of shocking my primary recently with a beat down / cunt busting session and it's turned into something I didn't expect. Positive but still unexpected.

I've decided to try and get into a dungeon in Philly and I am waiting to hear back from the dungeon owner. I know several folks who work there.

I am also looking for a discreet collar for my personal and I forgot how difficult it can be when trying to be discreet. Lol

Pssst, Piccante: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-4-4-Violin-Fiddle-Old-Spruce-Bird-Eye-Maple-Strad-Free-Case-Stand-Bow-274-/271124766910?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f204ba0be

If you have someone who can do the setup, or do it yourself it's a hell of a buy for what you get. Throw a set of D'Addario Helicores on there and listen to her sing!

Temptress! While I adore my violin, I've been toying with the notion of upgrading for a little while. You've given me food for thought!

(The ripples at the bottom of the violin were lovely and I "saw" pebbles. Wow, just...wow.)

I'm so tired and my pain levels have stayed right up there at 6-8 most of the time. Two of my old (3) back fracture sites have been acting up (coccyx and sacrum) so that my sciatica has been going nuts. Which means that as well as the daytime problems, last night I was up for over three hours walking off leg cramps. I still can't get used to having shin cramps, cramps on top of my ankles, cramps at the sides of my calves, toe cramps, arch cramps, and ones on the top of my foot all happening at the same time. And then my other leg joined in.

I know.

Mom took Willow, but Willow stayed terrified for a week and wouldn't come out of hiding. Mom's most coveted cat...in her words..."hated" her, and it hurt her feelings. In the end I had to give mom Marie, my new Siamese kitten, and I took Willow (she was wild born) back home. Willow is fine now, slowly putting back on the weight she lost. Marie is being charming (and destructive, knocking everything over, lol) and my mother has renamed her Mia (whatever that girl's name was in The Princess Diaries). It was very hard to let her go as I was very attached, but...mom needs a new furbaby and I know that Mia was brave, adventurous (moreso than her brothers. She didn't cry, not even once, while I drove her to mom's), trusting and loving, fond of going belly up with legs going in everywhich direction, a couch cuddler and a "wake up and pet me for fifteen minutes" type cat...who would always use the cat litter and not a closet floor or whatever.

bo's first surgery was messed up. The pump part of the device blew out of his abdominal muscle and THAT was his "hernia". He had surgery about a week ago and I took care of him and only just drove back home.

I've been catching up with a project I am very behind on...because my computer caught some online cooties and was going very very s-l-o-w-l-y. Several minutes to load each page. I use AVG but using another program that was supposed to not interfere...left me wide open for trouble. The program was for a Windows 7, not for an old XP. At this moment, I am completely without antispyware and am hunting free ones that won't eat up too much memory. We thought we could get me another computer, but car problems and other stuff unexpectedly came up...so we're broke for another three months, lol.

With permission, I am taking bo's neighbor's pregnant cat. She's the mother of the three kittens I adopted (one went to mom). The mother cat is gorgeous, very loving, but I don't know if she can be litter box trained. My minivan having a blow out on the freeway last month ate up the money we were going to use to spay her with, early on in her pregnancy (she got knocked up about 4 weeks into nursing her past litter). I think it's too late to get her fixed, and I plan to let her have free roam of my basement (may God have mercy on my basement if she cannot be litterbox trained) until this next batch of babies can be weaned, then I'll have her spayed and will find homes for her kittens. There is no way on this earth that I could keep them all, and I don't want that sweet beautiful animal to keep having loads of kittens until it kills her. If I don't intervene on her behalf, those neighbors are planning on rounding up all the female cats and ones they don't want (over 20 something) and taking them for a one way trip.

I won't do the shelter thing. Shelters are a death sentence in WV, and the no kill cat shelter is always full.

I haven't been able to resume taking my VHS and DVD inventory. I think my available energy will need to be spent doing yard work, since bo has been unable to come to my house since before his two surgeries, when his mother broke her hip. I didn't get a garden this year, but managed to get a little herb patch in the ground. I haven't tinkered with getting my indoor greenhouse up and running. Figuring out how to catproof it is the biggest problem. At least I bought the lights and light holder thingies, as well as 4 or 5 back-of-door type mirrors to take the place of the thin plastic (that my cats tore through) enclosing it. I still have to re-do the "door", a zipper in the clear plastic. Am clueless about how I'm going to manage that...will figure it out later. I still need some trays at the bottom of two of the shelves (maybe all four shelves) so that water won't dribble down onto my floor. If I could make a wooden box for underneath with some tarp to catch the water, that the cats couldn't break into... Le sigh...I love 'em, but my cats are a pain in the ass.

If only everything didn't require walking, or standing up. Two things that really hurt my knees and old fracture sites. I'm not motivated to do anything today, and yet I'm leaving shortly to take mom shopping to several stores. Afterward I will sit in this chair or on the couch for a few hours before crying uncle and going up to bed. I'll feel like I got nothing done, lol. The yard will still be yucky, my tape inventory unfinished, yada yada.

I'm only whining so much today because I haven't been able to have a nice, good scene with bo for over two months, AND because I've been dieting for a month, which was okay, and only went off of it early this morning (for a planned two days before going back on Atkins for another month)...and yanno how I keep bringing up Hostess O's in the boards? How they don't sell them in my state and I've gone 24 years with only having them ONCE, during a trip to Ohio? I just found out that Walmart finally has a store brand that are exactly like them! I bought a box, ate two, put the rest into a zip bag...and while I slept (and walked off leg cramps)...one of my damned cats raided the bag! I thought I hid it well. There were more holes from bite marks and claws than there was intact bag. It was spread all over the floor under my computer desk; doughnut carnage at it's worst. :(

I had been dreaming of starting my day with a ham steak, a cup of coffee (with SUGAR, mwahahaha) and two cake doughnuts with a hole, covered in powdered sugar and having a ring of raspberry filling inside... My poor doughnuts. May they rest in peace.

Love the violin! I am glad that Lizard has one, just a basic student one. Mom got mad at me for buying it but my baby girl (18 now) can play several items and I got her viola from the same guy years ago. Now if she would play it when I come down for a visit...LOL!

Congrats on the good things and My empathy for those having struggles. Definitely best wishes to bambi and good luck on the bar exam. I know you can do it, so keep that in mind.

First the connection to last month's roll call. The Alaskan Kinky Camp Out ROCKED! The wax presentation went off without a hitch and was probably My best one yet. All of the stencils and pre-made pieces survived the 100+ mile trip and only required a touch of minor mending. (Multilayer pieces had some shaking loose on the dirt road leading to the camp, itself.) Plenty of pics are on the other site and I replaced several of the old pics here with new ones. We had post camp out recap at our place the following weekend and have been having people over regularly. It's almost become a tradition here that the camp out to be the break through event for new folks coming into the community and that has been realized this year as well.

On to the present.......

We are having Alaska's version of a heat wave. This means temps in the mid-high nineties (F), less rain, and some strange wind patterns. We've had over 100 wildfires across the Interior and volcanic eruptions recently that have left our air quality rather poor, which is really unusual for us.

For July, I have a couple of trips to Fairbanks scheduled and some play related activities lined up. I've been doing rather well with three folks in particular that have been making Me smile. In addition to this, there's another in GA who I became acquainted with years ago who has become nothing short of a spectacular friend. (Yes, a friend and play partner of Mine from years ago, so we got that "meeting in person" thing out of the way in 2007.) Each of the three that are local all have their own attributes and personal strengths. All of them are very bright. Only one is not 10 years or more My junior. Yeah, I'm kind of feeling a bit of a Cougar.

On the primary relationship front, MP and I are doing very well. Our relationship has been strengthened these past couple of months. In My opinion, we are very happy and content.

Allow me to tempt you further, Pic. Last year I bought a Gasparo Da Salo 5-string from Old Violin House for $199. $60 ship, $40 for strings and an Ohrenform chin rest. Band mate set it up, and it's as sweet as pie. It's played in so well it's now my go-to fiddle over the circa 1900 American Star (J. Albert, Philadelphia) I've had since I was a teen. I'm considering selling that now but feel like I should hang on to a piece of American history.

Perhaps you'd like one of the Gasparo 5's instead? Or in addition? That low C with a heavy gauge Helicore (medium on the rest) brings a whole new dimension, and causes all kinds of heavenly overtones throughout the entire instrument unattainable with a 4.

I'm getting too excited; gotta go practice!

Cynthia, you might want to read this thread if you haven't already. I posted some yoga postures/pics/links to help with LW's back and legs. The beauty of this sequence is that it's restful, restorative, and so relaxing to do.

I hope you feel better soon!

MDA, that is the most beautiful violin I've ever seen. Seriously. The wood is stunning.its funny, hubby and I were talking about exotic wood (lol exotic wood) the other day bc we're thinking of building a bar. We had one once with a marble top and this time he wanted a wood top. When I saw this I showed him. He thinks it's beautiful as well.

A 5 string? I'm positively green with envy, MistressDarkArt!

My poor violin is beginning to feel very neglected, now.

Pic, I tried to CMail you on the other side but your profile isn't visible. Would you tell me about your violin and the kind of music you play?

5-strings are awesome. There is definitely a learning curve: generally the fingerboards are the same width as a 4, so one has to get used to less room between strings. Once that hurdle has been breached, the extra range creates all kinds of new possibilities and is very liberating. Advice: stay away from the cheapo electric 5-strings if you want a true violin sound. I have heard only one electric sound authentic, and that's the NS series. Nice if you've got $5k to dabble with. I recommend a true acoustic like the Gasparo with an Audio Technica clip-on mike for better sound reproduction when amplified.

One configuration my band uses is 2 violins, a cello and guitar. So it's basically the equivalent of a string quartet by adding the viola-range 5-string.

Honestly, I really just need the 5-string. But the beach violin was so pretty, and the American Star is 113 years old, and...and...and...

I can't find a chapter of Instrument Buyer's Anonymous around here...

Same here, MDA...I want to save up for a cruise but at times groceries and medical problems come up (poor Sif, the recent rescued pup in Austin has worms) so I had to order de-wormer for the dogs annd Loki, Little Bit's pup is walking about.

Lizard and Bo are getting ready to move. Luckily it is on the same street, into a bigger apartment.
