It appears that the Affordable Care Act employer health insurance mandate will be delayed until 2015. According to this article, the individual mandate still stands. Could this mark the beginning of the end of employer based health insurance? I sure as hell hope so.

Gee. Funny how that will take it out past the '14 election. Might they be a bit nervous about employees fired to bring a small business down under the 50 line, running their mouths about how President Obama fucked them right into the unemployment line?

Health insurance being tied to employment has resulted in too much discrimination.

Yeah. This'll be a lot better now that people (not companies) are forced to pay sky-rocketing insurance rates (while being unable to find a job) or hope and pray that the government will let them into the "pool" so they can avoid a tax ... which isn't a tax but is a tax.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Funny how it is Obama who put them in the unemployment line and not the greedy profiteer who simply would rather wash his hands of any contribution in health care.

Americans ? Let them die.

Funny how it is always efforts to have economy serve society that are the problem not how society in fact serves the economy and of course limited taxed, unregulated business and often obscene profits and in this case...minus the economy providing health care.

World as it is, Rodgers. If firing a few to get under the magic 50 keeps the company's doors open, then that is what is going to happen, and this administration is only looking at the politics, because they sure as fuck have no talent for governance.

there shouldnt be these loopholes, Obama put the frickin' loopholes in, so yeah its his frickin' fault.. in true national healthcare programs there arent loopholes where part-timers are screwed, etc.. they should get the same healthcare as everyone else.. if it were not for the various loopholes if employees work (are given work) of less than a certain number of hours they would have full-time jobs that that are better for the country and economy than having 2 part-time jobs (which cost an employee much more in time & money).. Obama putting in the loopholes is just another example of politicans lying to voters by giving them a poor healthcare system (to somewhat fill inflated promises to voters & of course the all important "legacy") while creating exit doors for their campaign contributors.. Yes, dam right it is Obama that has cost people jobs and/or had their hours cut.. and we will see what other "unintended intended consequences" there are in those 1,000 pages..

One way or another, I'm sure it's Bush's fault.

Well since you haven't had much to say, there is not much to deride.

well,.. how about a recent survey that:

"Forty-one percent of the businesses surveyed have frozen hiring because of the health-care law known as Obamacare. And almost one-fifth—19 percent— answered "yes" when asked if they had "reduced the number of employees you have in your business as a specific result of the Affordable Care Act.""
..while 18 percent have "reduced the hours of employees to part-time" in anticipation of the ACA's effects, the poll found.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/100825782

In addition to that negativity on Obamacare, apparently the young healthy people that insurers have counted on to subsidize the older less healthy ones arent signing up!.. apparently some young healthy peoples are finding out their premiums are gonna double or triple! I guess thats why California is trying to brainwash little school kids to badger their parents to sign up.. and the govt is bribing the schools to do it..

It really does not sound like things are going as planned.. I am all for a national health care system (since I am from a country that has a pretty good one).. but what these politicians have come up with is (imo) scary & very costly.. I dont think companies are gonna hire more than 50 employees or even give part-timers more hours with an extra year of no fines.. they know it will happen so why expand just to have to cut right back again..

I still think single-payer health care is better than private for profit health insurance, but I'm pretty certain separating health insurance from employment would have a positive effect on job growth.

Note to self: Relocate business to Cayman Islands, sell house to business, keep it as a business property, and wash hands.
