(It's an affirmative defense.) Zimmerman abandoned the SYG claim, if he made it that would have required a pre trial hearing and if the judge found for him the case would have been dismissed. Experts on the Florida law say he would lose the claim because he follower Martin rather than Martin entering an area he was in. Florida appellate decisions seem to have redefined self defense so that it is no longer an affirmative defense. I've been trying to get a lawyer in the Florida bar to confirm that and haven't been able to. The idea does strike me as highly absurd.

As to Martin, his opinion of the apparent skinhead following him is irrelevant. 1 Depends if he is looking at doorways and windows it can be. 2. Answering when asked what race Martin was means that Zimmerman attacked Martin but Martin's blatant racism doesn't mean Martin could be the attacker? There is a flaw in your logic.

I never said Martin could not be the attacker. I simply do not care. Zimmerman is claiming lethal self defense for losing a fist fight that he would never have been in if he hadn't been walking around feeling macho carrying a pistol.

How do you know that Zimmerman was feeling macho? Are you asserting that everyone who carries a gun is inviting fist fights? [:-] I would rather suspect that one carries a gun to discourage attackers?
