Missdressed got me thinking. She posted a thread about July 4th, so my question is...what are your plans if any?

We have gotten food, decorations and house set up. Of course I'll post pics! Then afterwards, there's the parade at 5:00, games and rides until 9:30. Then FIREWORKS!!! The good kind, the presidential kind! Really exited.
What are you doing?

Depends...can't do fireworks because they set off my PTSD. My SIL and her kiddos are going to Dallas to spend time with her father. I am tempted to call my brother over and grill up some ribeyes and bakers. I am also tired (blame the fibro...)and I got a couple of crocheting projects to finish up before the county fair come September.

On the good side, I did have my eggs and bacon bits. Maybe I will get some energy going...

Oh, and there is plenty of chocolate in the house now...got it hidden in case of emergency meltdown.

It's a year of firsts, for me. It's my first Independence Day without a very special Marine.

I just recently moved to a very quite neighborhood. Even though fireworks were illegal where I used to live and legal, here, there appears to be much less private firework activity, here. I was thinking I was going to make it all the way through the season without diving for cover because of the PTSD ... until the M-80s started going off at 2345, last night.

Anyway, my lady's father is close to the end in the nursing home and I am splitting my time today between there and drowning a few worms.

I already ran the flag up the pole and all of that, this morning.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

That sounds like fun. Especially the fireworks. I am going to go get a cup of coffee and then go to the park and work some puzzles. I can't do anything tonight because I have to work but I was thinking about taking some fireworks with me to set off in the parking lot if it gets slow. Hopefully some of the locals will be setting off some to watch as well. If not I will have to amuse myself watching the drunks wander by.

Have a great 4th and thanks for the thread. I bet it will be fun.

One of the greatest things (and scariest) is when you're lighting the firework and the wick catches fire..run for your LIFE!!!

We're headed to the lake ... but with all this rain, who knows how the day will turn out? We may be paddling back home. But no matter, it will be spent with family and friends and that's what will make the day great.

Being a small town, we don't get fireworks until Saturday. I could drive up to the overlook and try to watch the ones from across the river but they're forecasting more showers and thunderstorms.

Don't know if my son is home or not yet. We have burgers to grill and are going to pick up some corn from the farm stand later.

We aren't doing anything special today saving it for Sat as my kids have to work today. Saturday I should have a yard full of peeps. Having a hugh bonfire, that thanks to all the rain we have had we can light the pile up. BBQing , playing games in the yard, and swimming....LOL I just finally got my pool all cleared up from the last party. There is fireworks all around us....we are not doing any this year. So spending it with family and friends.

Obviously nothing, being English, but I will be thinking of you all. I got to spend one 4th July with my husband's extended family in Wyoming, and it's still one of my all time favourite memories. They couldn't have been warmer or more welcoming. Fireworks over the lake. Toasting marshmallows (my first time, which none of the children could believe). Barbecue on the porch of their log cabin. I long to go back.

This morning has been chores chores chores to get ready for friends. I'm prepping a lobster bake with potato salad and corn. Everyone else will bring other sides, apps and desserts. After dark we'll walk to the beach and watch the fireworks.
