in the War against Women that is.

In the really dumb reason to ban sex ed category we have this
http://tfninsider.org/2013/07/03/texas-lawmaker-sex-ed-gets-teens-hot-and-bothered-leads-to-pregnancy/
Because apparently the only thing that makes teenagers think about sex is sex ed. Things must have changed a lot since I was a teen.

In the regulations are bad except when they are on women parts category
http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/07/west-texas-aftermath-regulation-laws
Regulating women's health care clinics out of business good, regulating the 74 sites in Texas storing over 5 tons of ammonium nitrate, the stuff that blew up West, Texas, bad.

Really, Ken? I thought you were better than this kind of stuff.

1) Anti-abortionists around the country have been using the sex education angle for decades. Nothing new there.

2) The article in Mother Jones is trying to compare apples to oranges...and doing a really bad job.

How is regulation on businesses apples and oranges?

Sex education class (or health class as it was called back in my day) was one of the few places I didn't get hot and bothered.

I was fourteen and all you had to do was say the word "girl" and I got half a stiffie... but there are few things that can kill the mood faster than a fat, sweaty, red-faced nun trying to say words like "penis" and "vagina" with a straight face.

Pretty much how I got sex ed too. A room full of boys getting very little information from a clearly uncomfortable gym teacher.

You posted the link as a statement about the "war on women" and other than a couple of tag lines, the author makes a ridiculously weak connection between regulating businesses and the abortion debate.

Yeah, like a film by the USN on emergency child birth. Saw that in biology class. Spaghetti for lunch right after. Wasn't pretty.

The Texas legislature is passing a number of regulations that they claim would increase the safety of clinics however they have taken no action to pass any regulations affecting many more facilities that store many tons of explosive material. If you really can't see the connection I don't know what it would take.

I see. I didn't realize there was more involved in the debate. All I understood was that they wanted to put a 20 week cutoff for allowing an abortion. Beyond that, I wasn't paying attention to it. Point taken.
