We all know politicians love to decieve the public. So how do they do it? I think the first and foremost deception is the one with difficult words. This is not really needed cause the simple explanation is in the dictionary. So why not use the simple words? The second is really really long speeches, where the politician can say just about anything and repeat it multiple times. By the end we have already forgotten what he is really saying. But the core sticks to your mind wich is not your opinion. The third is ever changing rules so you have to keep up with it. Otherwise you break the law wich was allowed before the change. So wich is the worst and why? If you have any other suggestions I will add the option to the poll on request. I have allowed multiple selection but I ask the worst of you.[:D]Or is it from you, I don't know...

"Difficult words" is a loser. Politicians usually sound like they're talking to idiot children. Add "appeals to emotion". K.

Agreed when they campaign to win votes, but what I am talkin about goes on within chambers. Like in the senate and such. They talk for days on end and nothing really happens. You left out the partisan media acting as a whore to either of the parties. Basically, half of the population is of below average intelligence. Pander to the other half and get them drinking your Kool-Aid and you're golden. The media used to be independent long ago. That is no longer true.

FR, I voted for every single one of them. Why? Because they are all used, almost all the time. Watched a video of Janet Napolitano being grilled by a Congressman (don't remember which one) where she refused to answer a point blank yes/no question. It was absolutely insane, and whichever politician was running the circus wasn't forcing the witness (Napolitano) to answer the question. Stick and move. Stick and move. My local talk radio station's afternoon drive host used to have tap dance music playing when they would air responses of politicians. It was spot on.

Goldwater expressed the view that we could end up with over 100,000 American soldiers in Vietnam Thinking he wanted that he was rejected.

personally, I think the biggest problem we have now is APATHY... people find it inconvienient to be bothered with excersizing thier rights here is an example, went to this concert on private land in missouri, there was a police check point stopping each vehicle to search for drugs weapons etc etc etc we get pulled over and there was a cooler between the seats, one of those kind you plug in to a cig lighter socket and keeps things cool (why it was between the seats, to reach the lighter socket) anyhow in the cooler was about a 1/4 full bottle of jack daniels from a previous trip, been there for at least a couple months, not missouri doesn't even have an open container law and neither does the fed, but these were park rangers and wrote the driver a ticket (150 dollar ticket BTW) for open container. since they were fed park rangers, (guess the state hiway passed threw some national forest land) and we had pulled of the state hiway onto I THINK private land, the only way to fight it in court was to go to some fed court in the very southeast corner of the state. the driver who only worked part time and could have made the trip and I even offered to pay for the gas and take time off work to join him, couldn't be BOTHERED to go to court and at least HAVE HIS DAY IN COURT, so he just paid the fine. he paid a fine for something there was NO STATE or FEDERAL statute against doing! APATHETIC!!! and this is just one single example of how sooo many people just say bahhhh its to much trouble to exersize my rights! people now just allow thier rights to be nickle and dimed away without ever saying HEYYYYYYY wait a minute here!

I think some politicians have tried to go into politics for the right reasons and do the right thing, at least at first. Others may be conniving deceivers right from the start. It's supposedly up to the voters to be able to tell the difference. That's where we get the speeches, debates, along with lots and lots of TV commercials. I think that's how they do it. It's the damn TV commercials. Radio, too. You know how some radio stations play the same song over and over until you can't get it out of your head? That's how it works. They just keep pounding you with commercial after commercial until your head is filled with it. I was just writing in another thread that fear is also a pretty effective tactic politicians use. They know their audience, and they know what they fear, so they're able to use that to their advantage. I suppose that may come under "appeals to emotion," so I chose that one, as well as "citizens don't shoulder the responsibilities of democracy."
